First you must understand the resolve and flexibility of the Russian people . For the average Russian an atomic bomb blast is a sight inconvenience . A westerner will never understand " Russian Reality " .

Of course majority of westerners are idiots & easily manipulated by the media. Over 65 % of the world population are dimwits, controlled by rich people & are told what to read, to do, to eat..etc.
Any sanctions applied against Russia are useless. It will be an easy task for Russians to look elsewhere & EU only loses a huge Russian market. Currently, the Chinese are already moving into Russia to replace European companies. What exactly has the EU achieved by these sanctions? Nothing, but deprived European companies of sales in Russia.
All of this because of American interest to push Ukrainian peasants towards NATO.

Very true Pesky ! I am westerner and often can not believe the ignorance . Many people I know still refer to Russia as Soviet Union. Many westerners are scared to even visit Russia . I have visited twice and plan to return to experience winter in St Petersburg . Russia is largest country . There are many other countries waiting in line to do business with Russia . I have a friend in St Petersburg doing business with Canada . I was there last month and his business is very much alive and doing quite well I might add .
This new Ukraine government has committed many atrocities , like burning a building with 100 people inside and not allowing them escape , only to be burned alive . Western news does not report such things. There are 2 sides to every coin . I am certain western news will only report that these sanctions are having terrible effect on Russia . If so why did NYSE loose shares upon report of more sanctions. The immediate effect was felt more in the US. I will be in Russia again in the winter and will be happy to share how terrible these sanctions are NOT effecting Russia .

So then, the EU should just bend over, for a strong, military dictator, as he takes over smaller countries ?.....wait....WHAT????

Already some fruit producers are lobbying the EU to obtain compensations for the loss of business with Russia.
This is just the beginning. Wait for more when the effects of the sanctions are really going to affect some European companies!
The agriculture of several countries will be ruined by this.

Putin's ban is only for one year, but once Russia has found new suppliers, it will be very difficult to recapture that market.

All that for the sake of Ukraine? I just cannot believe it ...

Yes, Putin's miscalculations and obvious incompetence are truly beyond belief!

And the free and prosperous West has many customers! Russia buys a puny 3% of Canadian pork exports....The US buys 67% and even China buys 9%! Big deal! Pork prices are strong now and new buyers will quickly be found....who aren't fascists who invade neighbouring countries to steal territory!

Russia is dysfunctional and puny, it's a joke and has an economy the size of Italy under the corrupt fascist Putin.

Russian will be left only with the cast-off refuse of more discerning markets like China, or African developing countries to fill the empty supermarkets of Fascist Russia!

Russians better prepare themselves for long lineups in breadlines.

You should be more concerned about those Fascists in Kiev interrupting the Gas flow through Ukraine, this didn't need to happen there is no reason to have sanctions against Russia, its just the US wanting another confrontation with Russia and their European and Ukrainian prostitutes are going along with it.
You're the one who wants to stop the gas supply so it would seem you are one of the "fascists in Kiev" .

You all realize this confrontation is about Russia's
Rising influence. Not the maidan
The more the us pushes the sooner Russia will push back , and most likely it will be some type of new and FAIR world currency.

Yesterday blacks rioted and looted cause a criminal got shot, what do you think will happen here if we start having to pay real prices for our gas and foreign goods.

This war is about how long american can keep cheating the world , wait till you here Saudi America is in the news , with the term democracy and you know it's coming

Why do any country needs to import anything in the first place?

Or because it can produce it, or to exchange it against something it exports.

I thought that was obvious enough...

The only one suffering from some sort of delusion appears to be you. Russia has negotiated trades with China, and Latin America. If you think that we will need aid from Europe, Canada and America, then why are so many European countries already feeling the sting of the Russian Ban? You should educate yourself before posting and displaying your ignorance so freely. The bottom line here is, the West and EU thought that Russia would back down with the childish sanctions. Instead, we have found other means to help decrease what ever dependencies we might have had with the EU while impacting the overall EU economy faster than your sanctions. If I am mistaken, then why are there countries cry to the WTO about it being unfair that Russia has placed a ban on their products. You can say anything negative about Putin, but one thing he is not, is stupid. He strategizes carefully before taking actions. This continues to be demonstrated, it's just amazing that the US and especially it's EU puppets fail to realize it.

Russia can easily replace western suppliers with ones from Latin America, Asia and Africa. No shortage of food is expected.
As for breadlines, Russia does not import wheat at all. In fact, Russia is one of the biggest exporters of wheat. The 3d or the 4th one in the world, I believe.

Can you stupid kholkhozniks replace Boeing's or western cars. Obama wont cut those because of ukrainka peasants, but don't act like you drunken kholkhozniks who barely know how to tell time 70 years ago could fly those Tupolev's again. Dobrolet already cancelled flights because Boeing and euros refusing to deliever spare parts to that kholkhoznik airliner. Americans could easily paralize ya. Russian and Chinese civilian airliners use mostly planes made by Boeing.

Of course your Dwarf Fuhrer Putin's puppet press is telling you everything is great in Russia....it always will.

In the real world, watch the supermarket shelves go bare in Moscow and think of me when you are in those long lineups for bread.....

If Russia renounces fascist expansionist policies and puts the corrupt Dwarf Fuhrer Putin on trial, you may re-join the civilized world and eat well again.

The moron is certainly not abusinessman and doesn`t know how business works. Even loss of several % of income can make one unable to pay off his loans and make him a bunkrupt. For EU export to Russia is 10 % but for many companies it`s a way more than that. Farmers take loan in spring to pay off in autemn and some of them will probabbly go bunkrupt if EU will ot bail them out. This is definitely not what EU was thinking about imposing sanctions on Russia.
