Canada's potential free trade deal with Europe should raise alarms that open access to lucrative seafood markets will come at the expense of protections for Atlantic fishery jobs, says a new report.

But surely this has the benefit of opening up the excellent Atlantic seafood to a wider market? Canada has more seafood, it's more plentiful than any that Europe produces, and certainly within Europe, France, Spain and Portugal don't have a great surfeit that they would be able to export.
