Might want to wait awhile till Pizza Mafia gets its act together. When I was there the kitchen was in chaos, with minimal people in the place. Server seemed out of touch with the kitchen, and also missed many signals from the customers. The items mentioned in the column were served cold, with little imagination. Seem like it was taken from the bar down on Randolph, Skinners, I think.

Anyway, wait a bit and see if they focus more on the food, and not on trying to be cool.

The name and theme of this pizza joint is reason enough to never set foot in the place.

After reading about the restaurant in Sundays paper, I was excited to try them out. This quickly changed to disappointment upon arrival. Looking at the small amount of food offered I should have left then, but thought I would give them a shot to impress me with pizza, that according to their tag line is "a pie to die for". Not only was the pizza cold, it would be hard pressed to be called worthy of any tag line. After asking when more food would be brought out the waitress said we had come in between servings and that something else should be out in a few minutes. When we inquired about the salad bar, we were brought a bowl of bagged salad with a cup of dressing on the side. According to the article we also expected wings, and soup, but found nothing other that a few cold chicken nuggets, which I swear were the same frozen ones I feed my kids. No soup either. To make matters worse we never received a second glass or water or soda pop, although both were empty and sitting next to the edge of the table. To say the least unless you like poor service, pitiful pizza, and a buffet that would not impress even a third world country immigrant, stay away from this one.

The servers might be the worst in St Paul. The young ditsy blond would be better suited washing dishes. In fact the dish washer had a better personality. Please owners get you act together with the food, servers, and cooks. I'm beginning to wonder if Kathy was at the same place I was. Her reputation has been greatly shaken by this review. Is she a partner in the place?

The waitress filled our drinks removed plates also quickly and asked if everything was ok several times, for 5.95 it was a good deal many people had good comments and the cooks constantly were wathing the buffet. I read the comments and almost didn't go but I wanted to find out myself and we will be back.

I was down there last week too. I found the service to be sloppy and the all you can eat buffet disappointing. They advertised having soup, salad and wings. They didn't have any of them.

Great place!!! We had the buffet and it was amazing. Can't beat the price at $5.95. There were 5 different pizzas, wings, salad and cookies. The pizza was loaded with cheese and the sauce was perfect. Our server was sweet and quick to refill our drinks and clear plates. The decor was clean and cute. I wouldn't call it a dive as much as charming. We will return again and again. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Monday, 12:00pm for lunch.
Buffet looked good, so we sat down and ordered drinks. Service was prompt. Maybe 10 other patrons in the restaurant.
The buffet has room for 4 pizzas. On the day we went it was a Pizza Mafia (combo pizza), Don Ho (Hawaiian) and a couple single topping pizzas. The second section of buffet contained hot-wings, BBQ wings, cookies and cheesy bread.
It was mentioned to us that there is normally a side-salad, but they were out of that during our visit. I overheard they were also out of wine.
The first round of pizza was a little on the cold side, but was a good quality pizza, with fresh ingredients.
The second round was better and had fresh hot pizza ready for us.
It's an average pizza joint, with a buffet.

I don't know what everyone is talking about because I'm from NY and I've eaten the best pizzas in the world. I moved here about 2 years ago and this is the only joint could be close to it

I'm glad the other comments in here talked about the reality of this place. I posted my review here: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/695712 under the name kvh. This was some horrible service, idiot waitresses, horrendous frozen food, and the menu is one big shamble of lies.

I went today for the lunch buffet. The service was excellent, I had a blonde waitress with yellow glasses. She was friendly and attentive. The buffet was delicious, and the pizzas replaced promptly. My only complaint was the vulgar language coming from the kitchen. The cooks repeatedly swore loudly and at one point even yelled loudly at our waitress. The decor was halfway family diner and halfway neighborhood bar. Overall, large portions and cheap prices with a smile. I'll be back, Jeffrey

I was there yesterday to give it one more try. Still not impressed. The pizza wasn't terrible, but really nothing to rave about. The the $5.99 all you-can-eat buffet should include the drink. After buffet + pop + tip, you'll end up spending $9 per person. Not that great of a deal for lunch.

You get what you pay for. This is $6 all-you-can-eat pizza. Capiche?

You're not paying for atmosphere here, and you don't get much. Small place. A few posters and LP record jackets on the wall. Vinyl tablecloths. Mismatched plates. Get your own paper napkin and bendable fork. Two gorgeous waitresses, though.

Service? Noone offered to refill my water - but I knew how to ask and that was good enough. My dirty plate disappeared every time I got up to get more food. Guys from the kitchen checked the buffet every couple of minutes, and fresh food arrived quickly.

I heard that the buffet includes salad and soup. I saw neither. Oh well. Maybe I could have had them, but I didn't ask. Mozzarella sticks were pitiful. But the pizza and wings were pretty good. Not great - pretty good. Fine for $6. Five kinds of pizza. BBQ wings, nice and crispy with a tasty sauce, bold but not too spicy.

So I filled up on the stuff I liked, and left full and happy and with change to spare.

I thought this was just fine. The pizza is really good. I think the best I have had. It is like Carboni's(sp) but a little thicker and really tasty fresh sause. I didnt have any wings or sticks or anything else.

I had some beers too, and they were strong. We had a nice time.

The staff were nice, and cute.

Hey! Spaghetti'Os from a can _do_ taste good. I have yet to eat at Pizza Mafia, but let's leave Spaghetti'Os out of the debate.

Tried Mafia Pizza this afternoon. It was actually fun; we went with a group and had about 1/3 of the tables. The pizza was hot and delish. My kid had a hamburger and wife had chicken some huge sub that she liked a lot.
The fun staff helped make for a great afternoon.
So Betty, I must agree with John S. Want a big name cardboard pizza, go elsewhere. Wish the patio was open.
