This story is giving everyone in Michigan a black eye. Either the code is a serious mistake, or the police and city are making a serious mistake. I strongly urge every law-abiding citizen of Oak Park Michigan to plant fruits and vegetables in their front yards.

The Oak Parkís Planning and Technology Director Kevin Rulkowski and other city authorities must be proud of themseles. The news report of them, and their wonderful city, trying to prosecute a woman for growing vegetables in her front yard made me want to spit. Letís see Casey Anthony walks, and you prosecute vegetable growing? Sick -
They represent whats wrong with this world.

Stop unjust Laws . The citizens of this country when asked to serve on a jury , should ask themselves if anyone was hurt by her actions. In this case NO! When these power hungry People can't get a Conviction ,these Laws won't be Enforced . Anymore Laws are being written to enslave and make you submit to these cities, county's ,states ,and our federal gvt . fight back "If it doesn't fit you need to acquit"

Obviously Kevin Rulkowski is neither suitable nor common. Time to cull the undesirables from that city office! As if Michigan needed any more embarrassing trolls...lordy.

I think this is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time. Remind me to never visit Oak Park!!! I suggest the citizens vote this Kevin Rulkowski out of office. If he loses his job, he might also have to plant a garden in his yard!! Oak Park stand behind Julie Bass and send a message to the city, that citizens won't stand for this kind of harassment!!!!

Please email Mr Rulkowski and cc it to all his higher-ups, just for impact. There are people from as far away as Australia doing so, to send the message that there is nothing unusual about feeding your 6 kids! PLEASE HELP! The more viral this goes, the more likely these people will drop this ridiculous charge!

This is America, you should have the right to grow your own vegetables on your own property. This is what's wrong with this country, the lady tries to save a little money growing her own food and gets prosecuted and we wonder why this country is in such debt.

It is a friend who is helping out. He is not charging her, but she feels compelled to at least try to help defray some of his costs (there are costs involved that are not HIS costs). Just because something is free to you does not always relieve you of the obligation to at least try to pay the favor back.

To Kevin....Do you eat? What percentage of your food do you grow yourself? None? Then why are you so hard on people who do grow food?

I hate this kind of thing. Where do these political bureaucrats get off telling other people what to do on their own property? We pay you buddy!
