Very handy article.

Canola in the USA appears to have the name oilseed rape in the UK & Europe.

This crop is also very big in Japan, so big in fact that on occasion the japs come over En masse into flowering fields over here (bigger than the jap version & therefore endless when in the middle of them) & have a major hoe down (a bit like the crop circle fans), not sure what the local farmers make of the party on down bit (depends on what remains after the shindig).

One other info item here is 2 GM results.
the 1st addition appears to produce red rather than the trad yellow flowers as a result of either carotene or anthocyanin addition (would only be useful as a broccoli type veg, which the japs trend to like).
The 2nd addition is now about to be trialled & results in omega 3 in the oils in the seeds as a result of import of a gene from planktonic algae. This last one will be rather interesting as omega 3 is usually only found in oily fish which have fed on plankton which have eaten the algae. If it works then the Ritalin boys may be a thing of the past, and only the religious nutters, and paint chewers, will be left going gaga without remedy.

Have a nice day: Ag
