Yes, of course, I know that cops have been known to lie. But I keep my foot on the brakes when I cruise through town to make sure I don't go one mile over 25 mph. They always watch me.

Not true!!! Cops have been known to lie. Or haven't you been keeping up with the videos on the internet and the news in front of your face?

On week-days I drive through Lithopolis twice, and when my husband was alive, he did, too. We are talking over twenty years, each. Neither ever got a speeding ticket. Yes, it's a speed trap, but you only get caught if you SPEED!<quoted text>
Fair enough. Here's my issue with that - you cannot drive down the main drag (when heading towards Tri-County Medical) without riding the brake or you will exceed the village's speed limit. That's whey there are always cops sitting there picking people off. When I travel through Lithopolis I spend more time looking at my speedometer than I do the road - How safe as that? That defeats the purpose of a speed limit!

Like you said, the place is a speed trap. There is absolutly no denying it and everyone who lives around or drives in that area knows it. Sure, the majority of people who get pulled over were most likely speeding to some degree, but it's not b/c of a reckless disregard of the law - it's b/c it is almost impossible not to.

My point wasn't to bash on Lithopolis b/c I'm not saying anything that everyone else doesn't already know. I was just saying that situation probably had a large impact on Bay's business. I won't drive through Lithopolis, so there is no way I can shop at Bays.

If you want to stick it to Lithopolis, contest your ticket and have it removed from Mayor's Court.

You have the right to have any case removed from Mayor's Court to Fairfield County Municipal Court. Even if you have to pay the ticket, the judge has the right to settle for court costs, meaning most of the money goes to the county and not to Lithopolis. If the judge knows Lithopolis is abusing the laws, he is an elected official who will stick it to them.

If enough people do this, the speed trap will take care of itself.

It's too bad Bay's has always posted signs on their property promoting higher taxes for the Bloom-Carroll schools. That's why I stopped shopping there.
Ron, you're from Dublin. That's nearly an hour away. Why would you vote for anything in Lithopolis?(Legally, that is...) I'm sure they'd take your tax money, but wouldn't Dublin get jealous?
I don't think you ever shopped there. I'm surprised you were able to find the place, unless you saw it on the horizon during your trip to a skyscraper in downtown Columbus.

This is a shame. What lovely people in such a cute little town. I guess this is what is known as "progress". I am guilty of shopping at all three of those big chains and I feel like I let some friends down. Take care Bay family, and know that you were appreciated!

Yes, I know. I always ride my brakes going through town. It's a pain in the azz.

Back when I delivered pizzas for Donatos in Canal Winchester, Mr Bay would occassionally call for a late night snack. As Bays had already closed for the day, I had to call Mr. Bay to let him know I was nearing his parking lot. He would meet me at the front door ..always tipped well... and as I got back in my car there was always a sad feeling. Never knew why, but at this moment I suspect it was because I knew one day his store would close forever. Mr Bay if you read this post, I want you to know I thought highly of you. I wish you God speed in finding your niche in the grocery market. You are a very caring, kind man. God bless you.

I've marveled at all the DUI plates on the towns own citizens cars! Lithopolis cops have far too large a presence for a town that small. The rest of the Bloom Township, with just as compact of a population get by with the Fairfield sheriffs. It is a bummer such a nice place has such a police state vibe.

And should the Lithopolis police be running speed out on State Route 674? Yes, legally they can, but that is example 1A of it being a speed trap. Bloodsuckers.

Maybe the Dispatch could look into that?

My family used to spend the entire summer at Jackson's Lake Park right outside of town. Bays was the only grocery we would shop for months at a time. My grandpa would even drive down to Lithopolis from Obetz just to pick up a week's worth of meat because it was more fresh than any of the markets around us (including Kelly's, which still has good meat). It'll be sad to see it go.

And YOU are part of the beautiful people from Picktown, so HOW do you know anything about Bay's? Maybe Ron didn't always live in Dublin - did that ever occur to your brainiac mind - hmm??? WHY do you have such animosity for the people from Dublin - because Picktown can't keep up and the beautiful people there would like to outdo them??? Jealousy will make you a bitter old person and besides, you shouldn't comment about things unless you KNOW what you're talking about!

WHY anyone shops at those Meijer's or Walmarts is beyond me. Nothing but white trash and knuckle-dragger magnets. I'd rather pay 10 cents more for an item anywhere else then those nasty stores. Nothing better then walking up to a stop that has used, discarded diapers and empty beer cans in the parking lot.

I always boycott any and all businesses that overtly call for higher taxes for schools. Whether I vote in that district or not. I do it on principle. If some business person wants to help the government steal from me I penalize him by not doing business with him.
