Big companies don't care about the workers as long as they are making a profit. AND it's not just the fast food business. I work with a billion dollar green company competing with companies making some of the most toxic products we use in our homes and put on our bodies. Those companies don't care about the cheap ingredients they use as long as you the consumer buys the junk and use it. In turn, you are making your family and pets sick. Years ago, 1 in 18,000 Americans had cancer; today, it's more like 1 in 3. What do you think the big companies care about?- Profit! As long as they make money, that' all that counts.
CEO compensation is up 875% since 1978 versus 5.4% for the average worker. That is NOT okay. Even if they do increase the minimum wage, it's not going to go from where it is now to $15 per hour; too big of an increase. Would be nice, but I say don't count on it. You gotta find another industry.
When you need help, look for those who can help you. It's not going to be your fast food place where I understand one company has shown their employees if they want to live a better life, it's simple - get a part-time job, again making minimum wage, but now instead of working 8-hours you are working 12-hours a day making basically nothing. You get to spend even less time with your family or if you are single less time for yourself.
