We took our son-in-law to Fatty Beltbuckles for a birthday dinner. He was so looking forward to the opening of the restaurant because he loves BBQ. We were all very disappointed. The food was overcooked, the corn dodgers were awful (my daughter asked if they were like mini corn-dogs and the waitress said "yes, exactly") they were just the most dense, dry hush puppies I have ever tasted. The corn bread was no better, it was very rubbery. Apparently it was over-mixed. I ordered "pulled chicken" which was not. It was cubed chicken in bbq sauce. The brisket was like shoe leather. The ribs and the pulled pork were dry. It cost us $90 for a dinner none of us enjoyed. The martini was pretty good. We were hoping this would become a new "regular" for us, but I am afraid not. We will travel to Patchogue to Bobby Q's, instead.

Yuck Yuck Yuck The BBQ sauce was good - but there was not enough of it The ribs were tough and burnt - not enough meat on them. The coleslaw was so gross, I couldn't get it out of my mouth fast enough! Don't EVER get the corn dodgers! So dry and unflavorful we will never go there again!

in addition to the horrible food (our family of 5 did take-out), when i got home i realized theat they had shorted us on the order(1/2 rack of ribs and side of fries). i called and it was no problem, they said "come up in ten min." So i waited about 9 min, and it is about a 3 min drive. When i got to the "hot dog stand", the owner said "its coming out right now." (no apology at this point) well, 15 min. passed by while standing in the worst run restaurant i ever saw(about 30min total) and the owner returned with the missing items with no apology, just a thanks for your business. im glad he did at least that as i said to him "well that is certainly the last business that you will receive from me." as i left wondering why it was so hard for he to say, sorry. at that point i would of returned on another date if he had apologized, but then i tasted the food when i got home and the apology would of been a mute point. im not one to say my mind like this but i was so excited to go there and then got what i got, i had to do something.

Went there for the first time last week and ordered the pulled pork. Not bad, just not much flavor to be spoken of. The rib tips were equally ok but the bed of onion straws were tough as shoe laces.
In all fairness, for their first week open, it wasn't terrible. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and try them again. It's no Famous Dave's or Dinosaur BBQ for sure but it's still nice to have a local BBQ place.

I ALSO ORDERED TAKE OUT AND WHEN I GOT HOME ONLY HALF OF WHAT I ORDERED WAS IN THE BAGS. I HAD TO GO BACK TO PICK UP THE MISSING ITEMS AND THEN WHEN I GOT HOME EVERYTHING WAS ICE COLD. HUGE DISSAPPOINTMENT! I WILL STICK WITH BOBBIQUE

Fatty Beltbuckles is good smoked meat if you like smoked meat. If you like regular BBQ then just have them drench everything with BBQ Sauce.
They do need to fine tune their act. The ribs are a bit overdone. The cornbread is dry (old?) and the coleslaw is horrible.
But I love REAL Smoked Meat and there aren't too many choices, Fatty Beltbuckles was good if not excellent for Baby Back Ribs and Pork RIbs. The smoked sausage was the leanest I've ever had. As for pulled pork and checken and briskit, I can't see what anyone finds in these dishes. I have had them in many places and they are always dissappointing. I think they are more "soul" food type dishes (= can't afford the good stuff)

Sorry to hear the comments about Fatty Beltbuckles. We were waiting for it to open and would have enjoyed a good rib place in the area. That location seems to be jinxed......there were 2 different sushi places there, followed by a Mexican restaurant.....I don't anticipate Fatty Beltbuckles lasting long.

Comment From a customer Thank You Again for all your continued support
Bob, We ate at your restuarant Wednesday night (group of 4). You gave me pulled pork to take home. I think that it was very good as were the hamburgers, onion rings and sweet potato fries we had. I am sure we will be back again. Charlie
