My family eats out in Bennington at least once every week. Last time we walked into Tally's, we walked out because there was no one there to greet us. Before that, we walked in for dinner, were seated, and then ignored for 15 minutes by our waiter who was making small talk with another table that had already paid its check, so we left. Last Sunday we drove by (on our way to Peppermills) and saw cars, and thought about it for a minute and just said forget it. The service has been so viciously bad in this restaurant that I don't know if I will ever go in again. The food can be great, but if you can't get the attention of a waiter, or can't get a water refill, then it is NOT "fine dining." I almost felt cheated that we could not go in and enjoy this beautiful building. Good luck, and welcome back, Chef Andrew. But please, please, don't ignore the "front of house" and some basic rules of table service for fine dining. We will come back, with open minds, but we cannot pay "fine dining" prices for low-grade service. If you're going to make it, you'll need locals like us for those cold winter weeknights when the tourists are not around. Best of luck. We're rooting for you with fingers crossed.

I agree totally. I went there a few times when it was under Galipeau's control and had negative experiences every time. Neither time were we met by a hostess, or anyone at the front. Hopefully Chef Andrew will change it all. Good luck!

The heart of my business is the local population.
Without the support of the locals I will not have nor enjoy any Longevity at the Station.
I have the good fortune of employing several talented servers and a few very eager to learn service industry Trainees.
It is my most sincere hope that The Bennington Station can overcome it's past shortcomingsand become Bennington mainstay.

My Menu prices have not changed. I run daily specials and the price is based on the price I paid for the product. What has increased faster than inflation, please specify

I have a "B & R Bistro Menu" coming soon that will be available as well as our Regular Dinner Menu that will feature Ala Carte Entrees, Winter Soups, Salads, Big Gourmet Burgers and Creative Pastas. Prices between $3.95-$14.95(for the REAL LOBSTER ROLL) The higher priced daily Specials are for USDA PRIME Beef, NY Strip & Delmonico and A Seafood Porta Fino- Shrimp, Scallops and Real Maine Lobster all priced $20-$24. Research for our area indicates I am priced LOWEST for these type of entrees.

Which restaurants in the AREA did you research for the prices on these type of entrees that indicated that you were priced LOWEST?

Did you look at the scores for some of the other established restaurants in this town on that list you are quoting??? All of which scored less than his restaurant, some significantly less.

How about your sorry for not answering my question and addresing my concerns? Which restaurants in the AREA did you research for the prices on these type of entrees that indicated that you were priced LOWEST? You said it not me so this is your chance to explain it to all your potential customers! You were the one who said "Plaese feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns, I welcome all feedback!
[email protected] " This is your chance to respond to the questions and concerns you welcomed in September 08. I wouldn't pass it up if I were you! Silence isn't golden in the restaurant business! If you don't keep plugging all people have to go by is what is written and word of mouth which doesn't seem to be working in your case! Give it a shot, what do you have to lose at this point?

As a business owner, this guy is allowed to set prices as he sees fit.
Indeed, it sounds like what is charged is reasonable in the area for that menu.
It is almost impossible to get a perfect rating on the violations. Having spent many years in the restaurant business, many of the areas where you get points off are "standard" and frankly have little to do with food safety. Some of them you have zero control over, like floor construction.
If you don't like it, eat elsewhere. Who wants to serve such a miserable person anyway?

Chef Robert Andrew asked and I answered! I asked and where is Chef Robert Andrew's answer? It's his problem not mine! I don't eat there anymore so I solved my problems! No one was asking for a a perfect rating on the violations but the ones stated are the ones which cause the most problems in the restaurant industry these days so there is cause for concern! 5 Critical points deducted for Potentially hazardous food meets time and temperature requirements during storage, preparation, display, service and transportation frankly have MUCH to do with food safety! If your claims to having spent many years in the restaurant business are true and I have no reason to doubt you, you of all people should know seriousness of the health departments charges! I have knowledge of food manufacturing and the health department so I know what these numbers mean! It's inappropriate and unethical to get that many critical points deducted! Maybe Chef Robert Andrew should study the way Burger King does it! Who wants to serve such a miserable person anyway? Chef Robert Andrew better want to serve miserable people or he will be a victim of his own demise! Self implosion is not a pretty thing!
