It is not enough that the power-elite has caused millions of people to worry where their next meal is coming from, or how to keep a roof over their heads, or how to send their kids to college, or how to finance retirement. They have to keep the health nags coming over every morsel the public puts in its mouth. Weight obsession translates into big bucks for BARFMA (BigDiet/Pharma.) Got to keep bleeding the middle class dry somehow. Not to mention guilt over diet keeps us passive and less angry at those who really cheated us over.
Or perhaps this article was written by the restaurant industry. As inept politicians want ever more taxes to pay for the mistakes of their rich puppet masters, "sin" taxes will increase. The restaurant lobby may try to head them off at the pass.
Either way, this is a moronic article with a hidden agenda. It is obscene to think obesity is a big problem when we have a growing number of elderly so poor they won't even be able to feed themselves. How she calls herself a journalist I don't know!!!
Oh, it's you again....well guess what?!? Americans are fat and getting fatter. As for the poor, it's unfortunate but the majority of cheap food is fast food like McDonalds. VERY healthy, indeed. The article was meant to convey that americans are being trained to expect big portions of food and common items like cookbooks, etc reflect this sad trend.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, that's what its all about. I'm fat and there is no one to blame but myself. I chose the foods I ate and I chose to be active or not active, its all my fault, not cookbooks, not fast food restaurants. I take full responsibility, but I'm also doing something about it now, by eating healthy, no fast foods and exercising (25lbs down and a bunch more to go)

Ben Jones, I agree with you. I never even made the connection that since fewer people are smoking in the U.S. that it could be a reason why we're larger.

In a lot of Eastern European countries, the same is true. Lots of very thin people who smoke like chimneys.

I always blame the addition of high fructose corn syrup in lots of foods. Foods produced in Canada, Mexico or European typically don't contain it.

the French also walk alot more. Their infrastructure is designed around more walking and public transit.

I get up, drive to work, sit at a desk, drive home, sit and eat, sit and watch tv/PC, go to bed.
For the past several months I've added a 1 hr. workout after work MWF, and great things are happening.

Oh, for Godsakes! I'm so sick of these food experts. Do you think the French have this problem? Eat good food, mostly plants, fresh ingredients...including butter, cream, etc., eat less and savor more. Share with your friends and live your life.

People are lazy and make boxed, packaged crap when there is so much fresh, organic food available. Many people's food budgets don't allow them to eat well.

Never buy the packaged frozen food. They spray even food like pizza with sugar water to make it taste better. Buy a bag of fresh spinach instead. Make eggs for breakfast. Cut all unhealthy carbs like soda, baked goods, and stock up on fresh food. Keep fruit trays and veggie trays in the fridge at all times plus things to make salad or a healthy stir-fry. Just say no to fast food, period.

And don't take up smoking unless you want to end up thin and dead from cancer. Stupid idea.

I would not knowingly eat pork shoulder and fat crammed into a can. I have deleted pork. I never really liked it anyway. Chic Fila puts those crunchy dried peppers in with the salads.

I had one of those books and it was a great reference book if you are cooking from scratch. Regardless of what the book says, you are in charge of portion control. I check carbs, sugar, fat, protein/nutritional content of every food.
There are certain restaurants I won't even eat a salad at because of how unhealthy their whole menu is, including salads. I may have orthorexia which basically means health nut.

Don't believe anything this poster says. She is a bedbound morbidly obese whale who eats 12-14 frozen pizzas every DAY, and washes them down with 6-8 large cartons of ice cream. Her paid keeper says that she sometimes eats the pizzas frozen because she's such a hog that she can't wait for them to be cooked. She spends 18-20 hrs/day on Topix harassing people who have real lives. Her family pays the keeper because they hate her and don't want to have to see her. When she dies they'll have to take the wall out of the bedroom in her scuddy trailer to get her whale carcass out. She hasn't left her reinforced bed for several years.

You just described yourself. How many hours did you spend here yesterday? Some even commented on it. You're just jealous because people where I live make real money and you're stuck working in Tavares, Florida, home to the explosion which probably happened because you ate too many flatulent foods and then lit a cigarette.

Nobody believes your horse sh*t and most don't even answer you anymore.

My monthly budget is $5,000. That is what I try to only spend. Sometimes I go over. Maybe if your husband was a professional, you'd have that kind of money. People with that kind of "bank" don't eat frozen pizza. You are just stuck in your own little Tavares world. Actually, I feel sorry for you, but I don't know how much longer I can answer you.

Real life starts back in the Fall. Hope you don't find yourself alone, eating raw cookie dough and puffing on cigarettes. That's not good for your DIABETES and HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA. Neither went away with the fattening recipes you posted.

Visit the "Make Me Fatter" thread for proof. It is proof you posted. The only way your blood sugar would get better is if you hit a gym. What are the odds? You say you have to sit on your but* every day behind a desk and when you aren't busy, you post here. Again, what are the odds?

You know, Shamu, you can post all the lies you want. Everyone knows they're lies. You're a fat, ugly, crazy liar, living in a trailer and you've never seen $5K at one time in your whole life. Sure am glad I don't have that piddly amount as a budget, I'd have to give up a lot of stuff to manage on that. Some people might make some money in BFE, TX, but you don't. You can't even leave your reinforced bed, Whale. Have another pizza and some more ice cream, fatgirl. They're your only friends.

Oh you girls stop fighting for the last twinkie.

Funny part is neither one of you has a clue what the other looks like, what they eat, where they live?

Not one single thing.

You both are just making things up to out post the other.

You must enjoy it.

I don't eat twinkles or any of Spooky or Silliterate's fattening recipes.
Last time I went out on Sunday (notice my absence from here), I got a lovely grilled shrimp salad with fresh avocados, tomatoes and lettuce and water/lime.
I intend to keep my weight loss. The big Senior Discount gals are jealous. Their lack of mobility has got me running the stairs when I go visit a friend.
I can do it even when carrying groceries/bags. I doubt any of the others here are in that kind of great shape.

Tonight I had a small portion of tomato basil soup and a few bites of shrimp caesar salad.
I intend on keeping the weight off that I lost. I am not trying to out post anyone. I read/type here when my insomnia hits or when I nap and need to get back to sleep. Yawn. It's working. There are some very boring women here. Good grief.

I fooled them into thinking I was the same age, etc. lmao. They don't know my age or anything else about me. One guessed something about a lunch lady. Laughable. Another accused me of being an Idaho potato. No one can guess where I grew up or where I came from, etc.

I doubt she ever was. I think she is a creation or cretin head of CRD who was here before her.
Some posters like to create different personalities to toy with people. Someone even called them out on it and he (CRD) disappeared for a while. Then a Spooky Spoof started posting.

She/CRD tried to gross me out. I'm sure I probably know more about hospitals than she does. Maybe she will give me a pop quiz. LOL

There are some threads up with a lot of the old gang on them. I'll see if they are still up. Sometimes they tattle and get posts removed. It's like a day care for senior adults here. There should be warning signs up.

yes well senile silly tattled and got my thread removed but whatever... I'll just say what I want to say about her here

Found this on the Board of Nursing - Code of Ethics

Provision 1. The nurse, in all professional relationships, practices with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and uniqueness of every individual, unrestricted by considerations of social or economic status, personal attributes, or the nature of health problems.

((( Does this sound like Senile Silly?? She is always bashing those who are less fortunate and those who are morbidly obese and bed bound ))))
