I wish tater day was like it used to be before people started changing it. It was local people vendors. You bought tools--garden supplies and junk food. They had a stock expo at the park with teams of horses/mules pulling. It was a good thing to celebrate the beginning of the planting season. NOW it has been changed to a giant flea mkt where everbody for miles and miles brings their junk and sells it.trashy people come from all over and Marshal County gets the credit for their shortcomings.SAD SAD SAD.....a tradition is dying.

I agree. To bad they want cut back on some of vendors saleing the same old junk. But I guess it comes back to greed. You can get most of the junk at the traders mall in Paducah.

LOL...I just had to chime in here. As an outsider, I have witnessed the numerous flags that get displayed during tater day. To me, it is funny, because these are NOT the southern states flag. The stars & bars was a confederate naval battle flag. As for racism, wow, like Marshall County is the ONLY county that has racism. Ok...so here, at 12-13 and up, they display the confederate naval flag....visit St. Louis, Memphis, Chicago or LA..there they dispay guns at that age (and not for hunting).

I love West Kentucky and we have to protect it. Western Ky is one of the most beautiful places on earth and we must keep all these blacks and mexicans and asians out!

Hahahaha you are too funny my friend, Asians and Hispanics are beginning to own this country! Blame your Presidents! Blacks belong here! Your people brought them here so get over it, but the others are not poverty countries any longer ...we are! all of our big industry are now theirs...do you understand yet? Thank your presidents for that ...hey don't cry, you voted them into the Dark House!

Marshall County is full of back woods inbread people. Nothing is ran correctly. Just close school for a basketball game.. Mental illness and retardation are rampid just go into walmart. The girls from Marshall think that they are something even though sex drinking n mudding are a the thing to do then go to church for show. 2OO LBS to these girls make them desireable. Have you ever seen a mirror? An attractive female certainly stand out. Soap and water work but most refuse to bathe or brush teeth.

I had the distinct pleasure of visiting your town this past weekend and was appauld at the pre-civil war mentality that was displayed on your main street. I do believe in all the freedomes that are in our constitution, and now chose to display mine. I do not know who the city civic leaders are but you give minorities a very valid arguement that racism is not dead. Even the out of town vendors as well as out of town visitors were shocked at the number of vehicles displaying the Rebel flag! What message are you sending, and what does this have to do with "Tater Day"? I saw flags with Larry the Cable Guy's "Get-R-Done" motto on them. Has he endorsed this, or is it that someone in your community has taken this into their own hands to validate the supreme racism that infest your town? As a white American I am appauled that there are not any decent citizens in Marshall county or Benton, who would do the right thing in this matter. I will not darken your streets, and I will make this matter known to all those who will listen till this matter is corrected. How would you feel if you were black and took your family to "Tater Day"?
Well as a white man let me answer that ? like I was black. I would make sure the sun didn't sit on my black ass in that town.
