With a slight jolt, the shiny red R.J. Corman engine pulled out of the station behind Rupp Arena and the Lexington Dinner Train was on its way.

Anyone whose taken Marketing 101 knows product placement and name recognition is #1. Maybe He's being a smart businessman not a narcissist

It's obvious the white trash on topix would rather see a rusted broken down railroad bridge, rather than a nice updated red bridge with a name painted on it. Amazing

It would be better if it went more then 12 miles! And the scenery is the same thing you can see from your car, for much much less! I can microwave a steak for less.
Keep in mind, this is the guy that made all his money from smuggling in cocaine in the 1980s, dont believe me? Read the 'Bluegrass Conspriacy', it's well documented what he has done in his past. Also his company been banned from working in most of Indiana due to trying to under cut railroad unions.
]Sounds like sour grapes to me. We have known R.J Since 1980. He Is a hard working man. Cocaine conspiracy? Really? Obviously you know nothing of this man at all. This is not a place to smear someone because you can. Truth is, this man has done a lot for Central Kentucky. So what if his name is associated with a lot of things. I have personally known of families he has supported after tragedies in their lives. Non of that ever made it into print. Being a smart businessman, whose name is "Branded " on his endevors, is just business. This man is very approachable, and straightforward. When he is involved in a project, things get done because of his personnal persistance. Nothing shady about that. Hospitals have been built, county fireworks displays (Open to all) at his expense, including the cost of cleaning up the messes made by the crowds. Now, back on subject: The Dinner Trains are a wonderful way to experience the Bluegrass. You are also incorrect. The views are much better and closer than you can get in a car, with the nostalgia an added bonus. The historic Eisenhower car, is well worth the trip alone. I am not independantly wealthy. I have been on the Ky. Dinner train. Yes, it is something We have to save for, in order to enjoy. But factor in the cost of running it, and you will see it is quite reasonable. I'd do it any chance I got. ALso, the food is Ky. Proud food. The names may sound "FooFoo" as another person said, but I am a meat and potatoes kind of girl, and the food is amazing! It would rival any 5 star restaurant in my book. It is served by a wonderful, knowledgeable staff, whose aim is to please. Also, if you conscider the price of other scenic railway tours, this is priced in accordance to the market. Mr. Corman has a love of the railway, and a love of history in the area. I think these two passions mesh nicely with the Dinner trains. Lexington will benefit from it's presence for many years to come.

I dont....I am tired of seeing his name all over town...how pompus and ego driven can you be ??
Ok...ok...ok...we get it...we know your damn name...we know you are in the rail business....we know you have money !
GET OVER YOURSELF !
You may not like the name recognition, but it is just that, Brand Recognition. Not wanting another business that creates jobs seems wrong. Many people, including yourself have probably benefitted from his projects. IE: Community Fireworks, Abulatory Care, Breast Cancer Clinic , Buildings opened up for community use, for meetings showers, at no cost.. Youth groups, ball teams, Seniors... all supported by his company.. Quacker Oats, Ford, Kelloggs, Marie Callenders? Chef Boyardee, Dupont, All Used their names as brand recognition. Put simply, it is a marketing strategy, get my point?

Then you obviously don't really know them.

People like to bash those they don't know and who have "made it" through hard work and good business sense. Mr Corman and his wife are not "fancy" people. They are very nice simple folks who worked hard for a living. I have had the opportunity to meet both of them and never made to feel that I was beneath them at all. I met them before they made the aquisitions they have now. Today they are the same people. Kudos to them for wanting to bring something new to Lexington - we do need that!! Do you know how many people have never had the opportunity to ride a train? It is an experience all should have. I am sure if a school system approached them for special rates they would make arrangements. Judge not lest ye be judged.

Get over it. Obviously Brand recognition means nothing to you. The name does a lot of good for a lot of folks.

I owe the Corman's Nothing. But I have had the privilege to watch them and know them for 30 some odd years. You making fun of others, does not change the fact. People are loyal to them, not because they have to be. It is because they know what kind of people they are through daily interactions with other citizens in their community. Period. Jealousy, and gossip makes for twisted views. Facts and proof are all over this area as to the kind of people in this company.

No He did not get a bunch hurt. An accident happened, period. He did not cause it. The people working derailments are highly trained, but remember they are human.

Do you not think the price is steep?$200.00/ for two people for a 12 mile ride and a meal? We are not the type of people that you would want to keep out. We are very nice middle-class folks; I just think that is a little too expensive for the average person to pay.
It's simple: DON'T GO if its too much for you.
