To put on an event the magnitude of the West Virginia Strawberry Festival takes more than just a handful of people, one of the organizers told the Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce at a recent meeting.

I would no go to that festival or any other festival any one caught smoking or with smokeless tobacco can be fined 50.00 dollars to 500.00 for smoking or chewing, everyone should boycott it, not fair or right just another way for the city to make big money.

Yeah they killed the festival with the no smoking laws.

Good job great leaders of buckhannon, your ignorance is showing.

Second hand smoke OUTSIDE will never hurt anyone.

You say smoke is an annoyance, well guess what so is perfume, BBQ grills put off more smoke than cigarettes, gonna ban them too?

I agree, boycott it. Let it die with the rest of this crap town.

I suggest your body odor is very offensive, also. Why don't you pack your rags, leave Upshur County, and grace all others with your absence?

I suspect that should you engage in such boarish behavior with the wrong person, the last thing you'll feel, but not hear, is a hollow-point... whizzing clean through your empty brainpan!

Well I sure hope the let everyone that come in to the town that you can Not have any type of tobacco use in your town or on the other hand knowing the town and law it's self I would say they won't let groups and bands etc comeing to your town know any of this and just make them self rich over it and hand out tickets to folks and I would say that any groups coming from out of town / state that will be in the festival and just saying they get a ticket for it that they won't be back so take the good with the bad and thank your Town for the ban

Seems to me if people are smart they will stand in the street to smoke, Rout 20 last time I checked was state owned property, technically the city would have no jurisdiction, kinda like the PETA people who stand on state owned rite of ways in order to film and harass private hunting clubs in various states.

Well I think I'll drive 90 on Main Street flashing people as I go by since I've learned the City has no ability to enforce laws on State owned property. Woohoo!
But why

So if we stand in the streets and do drugs then the cops can't touch us because they got no jurisdiction?

Smart people stay in the street?

No what I am saying is that a "city ordinance" is only good within the confines of said cities jurisdiction. Seeing as how route 20 is state property, technically the city ordinance would carry no legal weight. Another optional tobacco destination during this years festivities would be the post office, as it is U.S Federal property, this would include the parking lot of the post office as well.

Very witty, just think of the zingers you could've pulled off had you gone beyond sixth grade. wow. Since you have no ability to advance your position with sound arguments, resort to name calling- borish immaturity. And rest assured, City ordinances apply everywhere within the City, there's no opting out by being on state or federal property. Go ahead and try it.
