Proposed meat processing plant could bring 65 jobs to Herkimer County

Aug 8, 2013 Full story: WKTV 70

Two local men have put together a business plan to form a meat processing company called Full Circle Packing, and some Herkimer County legislators are hoping that company will be the first to break ground at the shovel ready 5S Business Park in Frankfort One of those two men is John Zielinski of Marcy who says the vision is to build a large meat ... A multimillion piece of vacant land which will remain vacant for generations... How many people are in line or have even expressed an interest to develop the property. It is amazing how the people of central NY are against anything and everything which wants to move here. I guess the area just want to remain poor and the people would prefer to live off of welfare...
What amazes me is how people can make huge leaps of inaccurate and false reasoning, as is your impression of the area. If this is an example of your ability to support your argument I don't think you are even qualified for a job there so don't get your panties so twisted. Like the Supervisor said, he hasn't seen shit from these people (but there will be a lot of it if they build the plant). I don't know any more than what was in the paper about the recent meeting but why didn't they show up with answers to the Town Board's concerns. They already showed that they were against it. It sounds like they just showed up to find out what the application process was. Why weren't they more forthcoming when they knew there were concerns or are these guys full of BS.(There'll be a lot of that also).

Now I guess they know they have to go through the Town Board for the permit process. So let's see what they have to say about this plant, how it operates, and it's affect on the surrounding community and business development at the park. There needs to be a lot more information because I believe the Board took the proper approach by rejecting it until they have the information they need to make an informed decision. As apposed to you who just wants to allow it to get a few more unskilled labor jobs. No, it's not just about jobs. It's about quality of life.

If this meat processing facility has any possibility at all of negatively affecting the community and future development at the site then it should be turned down and the Herkimer IDA should be scrambling (right now) to find a proper place for it within the county. Otherwise the County should defund this agency and save the taxpayers the money being wasted.

I have lived in this area my whole life and have seen this area deteriorate to become bascically a welfare community. People are always negative about every opportunity unless it related to the service industry.

People in Rome, NY were against the base because the military planes were too noisy. Well Griffiss gets BRAC'd and Rome declined. Rome also had an opportunity to get Chobani at Griffiss though it did not fit the model for the business park (similar reasoning as the slaughterhouse). A chip plant somehow is being built in Marcy even though there was initial opposition from people afraid of the potential for heavy metals contaminating the groundwater. I guess we have to thank the GOvernor for pushing that one through. The area is afraid of hydrofracking and like the slaughterhouse do not fully understand the process. Even when provided facts the anti-fracking community does not believe them and other areas prosper across the country. The area does not want power lines to go through their community, and the list goes on...

It is difficult enough for businesses to move or stay in our area due to high taxes and high energy costs. Now NY State policies have Remington looking outside of the state to possibly move their manufacturing facilities.

People need to consider all opportunities that come to their community as they are and will continue to be few and far between...

Good Luck, and you are correct. I am way overqualified for a job at the slaughterhouse...

Although I have stated before and I still do endorse the Frankfort site, because it will work. But if the people would rather sit on undeveloped untaxed property so be it.

If they don't want the project, it can very quickly be a reality in the Old Beech Nut building in Canajoharie. NYS would pave the the road in gold for them.

Hey Joe Kinney and the Town Board. What day is it? Come on Joe what day is it? It is one more day of Frankfort sitting around having weeds growing up in the " Industrial Park" and the pile of bricks once called Union Tools gathering dust awaiting that Fortune 500 company that will never come.

Hey Joe Kinney and the Frankfort town board guess what day it is? Guess what day it is? You got it. It is now almost a month later and those trees and grass are still growing and still no sign of a fortune 500 company wanting to come to your industrial park. Hope you are holding your breath.

Hey Joe Kinney and Frankfort Town Board. Hear that even Remington Arms is not an approved business for your industrial park. Are you people for real?

This is the dumbest bit of reasoning I've seen about the slaughterhouse. Maybe the guys that wanted to open the facility in the Pumpkin Patch knew there were people like this in the area and said, "Hell, they'll take the $10 per hour jobs in a slaughterhouse".

This type of facility did not belong there and now the EDC wants to talk with the Town Board who has a say in what goes in there. Maybe they should have talked to them first. If this is what the Herkimer County EDC feels is progress and jobs for the County then the County should just get rid of the EDC and save the money being wasted on them.

Let's see, there is a multi-million (and possibly a multi-billion) high-tech expansion going on 12 miles away that should bring jobs to the area in 2014. It is not a stretch of the imagination to expect ancillary companies looking to come to the area to set up shop. And the Herkimer county EDC wants to jump on a slaughterhouse. Fools with low expectations. It is almost insulting....no, it is insulting, and the people that supported it should be voted out of office. I congratulate the Town Board for not settling for crumbs like some others were so willing to do and thinking that everyone would see it the same way as they did. Like I said, the people that supported this should be voted out of office. They did not have the best interests of the Town in mind, or worse, they nod not even recognize that they didn't.

The only clueless one is the so called elite thinkers like you. Do you have any idea what a Union meat cutter job pays? No you do not. Way more than 10 bucks per hour smart one. The meat processing plant would have been built and operated to USDA standards. Just keep dreaming of those Fortune 500 companies that are flocking to NYS. Hahhhh.. The state that is ranked at the bottom of the barrel in the country for job creation. But ranks at the top for highest taxes, highest workmans compensation and highest government regulations. Still have not heard the governor talked about those issues yet. Why not have another sip of that Kinney Koolaide. The governors high tech fairy tail is something I will not bet on. This governor as most could really give a rats arse what happens west of Albany. And you elites and most of the local political class see one thing money from the feds or state. They are like druggies, can never turn down that fix of so called free cash no matter how stupid or lame brained the idea is.

YES we GET a VERY GOOD WAGE in the industry..we buy time and play the game of CARDS we make it out alive..LIKE ALL IN LIVE --ITS A CRAP SHOOT you can get hit by the bus going to daycare and die..

IF YOU ARE AFRAID TO LIVE then there is no hope for you IN PEACE nor IN WAR,, love those close to you, and hate all others..you may end up bitter like me but you will REALLY LOVE what YOU LOVE..god bless..

Hey Joe it's February 2014. What no return call from GM, Ford, IBM, Apple and the Governor about your empty lot. Waiting for that nano tech dream that's never going to show. Hey Joe didn't you get the memo? It's only Marcy, because they got the Tax break from the state. Not Frankfort. Will you be mowing the grass this spring Joe?
