That Nuvo article was nuts. Butter?? Wasn't any butter in my jambalya grits. Never has that I saw. The bread pudding Rules! The chili is great. Just make sure you get it loaded with the jalapenos, cheese, and sour cream. Not much point in chili with no jalapenos in my opinion. The hot sauce is on the counter to the right of the register. Working those hours in the heat, Art (and the rest of the Roux Croux)could give lessons to Ghandi. Everybody is always so nice and pleasent you would think they just got up off the couch from watching TV. Support this store and buy a shirt so you can get discounts. Don't forget to visit the Roux Loux in the back. The sign is worth looking at.

Everything they have on the menu is delicious. I especially like the fact they let you taste samples to decide what you want to order. I can recommend the Chicken and Sausage Stew dinner, the Pork Chop dinner (no knife required), the Sausage Po' Boy and the Bread Pudding. And something new on the menu, Po' Boats. It's a boat load of food that let's you float away to a happy place called....satisfaction!
Ooh, and almost forgot, the Jambalaya grits are de-licious! And I can't say enough about the bread pudding. YUM!

We came in yesterday to see if it was truly Cajun food the way we know it. We are from New Orleans, so tend to be on the picky side. Applebees has lots of things they call Cajun, but putting a little pepper on meat and grilling it is NOT what we are about!
Guess what, Papa Roux is the real deal. The Gumbo is real Gumbo, the Creole is real Creole, The Dirty Rice is real Dirty Rice. I mean it's the stuff we cooked 30 years ago. Make no mistake, this guy must have grown up with it to understand the flavors this well. I wouldn't mind some rum sauce for the bread pudding, but come on, this guy's got enough going on, and all done with three people. Crazy.
One more thing that has to be said. The owners will talk to you as if they've known you forever. Folks, this is HOW WE LIVE down in New Orleans. Yes, the food is great. Yes, the price is right. But hey, what amazed me with this place is that it could have been any little joiny in New Orleans, relocated 1000 miles north.
Wonderful stuff. The whole experience brought us back home!

first time dining at PaPa Roux, but it
definately won`t be my last. The food was seasoned just enough to give it a good zip, but not so much as to make you go running for the water fountain. The menu is good and the bread pudding is an excellent way to end a fabulous meal. I give it a 10 !!

Thankfully, the last tenant, Heavenly Chef, moved out and made room for a real "chef".
HC is now at the Wash Sq mall, in its death throes. When my wife & I decided to patronize it at its Post Rd & 10th St spot, it smelled like mildew, the fixtures were filthy, the owner was filthy (serving our food!), the cook look like she just rolled out of bed, and you would think that their BBQ would be good? Right! It looked & tasted like watered down spaghetti sauce. Good riddance to HC! Welcome Papa Roux!

not so good in my option resturant dirty, wall of fame?? makes it look ran down. Best deal was with the combo you get a free drink. Food not spicy like authentic New Orleans food. Staff pleasant, dont see this one lasting, just like the previous chef.

"not so good in your 'option'"? Not sure what you ordered but most things I've had there are plenty spicy, ask them to kick it up, I'm sure they'd be happy to. I was in there a couple of weeks ago and it was going strong, I don't see them going anywhere.

I've asked, over and over, how anyone thinks a "publicity stunt" is thrust upon a shop owner by surprise. The truth is that the people who think it was a stunt don't know a THING about what happened. We hired a kid. We posted a blurb on FB about hiring a kid. The next thing I know three local news stations are beating down the door, then nationwide, and within a week, global. You think I called the BBC and said "interview me because I hired a kid"? Riiiiight.

And regarding him not working out... some seem to think that once we hire somebody, we're obligated to keep them, even if they don't work out. Sorry, I don't get down like that. If you can't work to earn your keep, you aren't kept.:-)

Ate there weekly until last week. On 6-21-2014 went in for a beef po boy at 1:00 pm was told they don't have beef today said I went with with chicken and about 20 min later I was sick. Having severe stomach pain and diarrhea. I thought maybe it was something else. So we went there Wednesday before church on 6-25-2014 I got the beef which used to be shredded not now. About 2 hours later throwing up and diarrhea for 2 days so I missed 1 day of work. Don't go there use to be awesome not anymore.

If a restaurant won't pay their taxes, don't expect them to keep cutting boards and other surfaces clean. Likely cross contamination.
