I've been going to Jaxson's since 1981. Unfortunately, I moved away from South Florida in 2003. I've gone every time I've been back down to visit. It is a testament to the quality of the ice cream, along with the quantity.

Little overpriced, highly overated. Best in the country? I haven't eaten at every ice cream place in the country, I say you get no vote until you do.

Hopefully they win, and I will cross my fingers for higher prices. I will be able to tell my friends nationwide I have been to best place that sells ice cream...finally. This geographic pride shall trump any success made by anyone from south florida before, except the 96 Panthers of course.

I would like to add that their french fries are terrible. Weight loss is for suckers. Go ice cream place that has licence plates on the wall!!!!!

Waldo Perhaps you should follow your own links. The Jaxsons rest. you cite in your second link is in lake placid Fl and the link you cite for the SS has no listing for Jaxsons. ...but, Best In The World...belongs to Ben and Jerry's factory mega parlor in Waterbury, VT. We go on vacation every summer to our camp on Lake Champlain and the first 'food' stops are always Ben and Jerry's and also the Cold Hollow Cider Mill near Waterbury.

Damn the diets, full speed ahead.

Anyway, Jaxson's is about as good as it gets, here in South Florida.

I boycott Ben & Jerry's, as they openly support the release of convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal (on death row). There was overwhelming evidence and eye-witness testimony that Abu-Jamal murdered an innocent police officer. I don't care what flavors they offer and how 'good' they seem to be, Ben & Jerry's has left a rotten taste with me, and they will NEVER see any of my business. I vote for Jaxon's.

Jaxson's is a South Florida treasure. Our family has been celebrating there since it opened. The hard to find vintage brand candy offered in the gift shop section is great. Many of the great candies we all grew up with,and have the fillings in our teeth to prove it, are there for sale. The MINT Chocolate Chip ice creme is FABULOUS !!! Jaxson's has been featured on the Food Network as a great old fashioned ice creme parlor.

The ice cream is top notch. There is always a line outside the front door on Friday and Saturday nights even at 11:30 at night. The best!

Take the tour and you will see they use only real ingredients and milk from hormone-free Vermont cows!
Unlike all other ice creams on the market, Ben and Jerry's do not add air. You get heavy, natural ice cream.

Ben and Jerry's Factory Ice Cream Parlor in Waterbury Vermont is the absolute best!

Oh and the views are spectacular from the Adirondack chairs on the hillside...while you enjoy the ice cream.

I don't think Jaxson's is the best in the world...they only sell it, I believe. They are good for sure...for Florida.

I remember Jan's Ice Cream Parlor in NY. There was one, in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, about a block from my grandparents. They would take me sometimes. I remember Jan's having a "Kitchen Sink" Sundae. If you could finish the whole thing by yourself, it was free.

I think Jaxson's stole the Kitchen Sink idea from Jan's, as they were around longer than Jaxson's.

Correct. Ben and Jerry's have small 'Scoop Shops' around Vermont but the Factory in Waterbury gives tours and free samples. It also has many new, experimental flavors and you gotta visit the 'flavor graveyard' up on the hill!

Jaxsons is fabulous and the feeling you get when you sit there among those antiques and nostalgic candy you can buy at checkout are the best. Takes you back to your childhood. The only place I have seen that rivals it is now out of business. It was the Biltmore Dairy Bar soda shop in Asheville,NC near the Biltmore Estate. Their ice cream was not quite as good as Jaxsons but the
place was great to be in. Jaxsons deserves number 1.
