"battling"? Really? It's hardly a fair fight and one that breast cancer almost always wins. It's more and issue of how much "treatment" one is willing to put up with than a "battle". Let's be honest. Despite the brightest minds, the best technology, billions of dollars for "research", and millions of "experiments", we're no closer to a "cure" than we were 60 years ago. We've gotten better at delaying the inevitable through better poisons, but the rate of recurrence is shocking. Remember the old five year rule. Nonsense. I've had friends who suffered fatal recurrences after 10 years. Hope sells. A cure would devastate the economy.

Wow really?? Not only do we have to engage in the fight of our lives, deal with a new norm, learn to live with the fact that cancer may reoccur, but we have to listen to people like you spew false information. Frankly, if you cannot find anything encouraging to say, please do not leave comments, they are selfish, rude and clearly not helpful!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I burst your bubble Sabine. Where's the "false information" you refer to. My wife has breast cancer and I struggle each day to be optimistic for her sake. As for me, I fear it will come back as it has for so many close friends. Isn't anyone else frustrated and sick of "races for the cure", and solicitations for money for more research? What about the government? Shouldn't it be a player on this stage? No, we blow billions of aid to foreign countries and in our military assistance to people who hate us. Our priorities have gone to hell in America. If you want to pretend everything is good, God bless you. I deal with reality.

I am not an idealist, but a realist. I know more about breast cancer than you will ever have time to look up. What we need is your support, not your anger, clearly it comes out of fear, however, your wife is here now!!!! Be there for her, optimism is a huge help, she needs you now more than ever, this anger filled tirade will not help her. If you need support, it is out there, reach out there are many avenues available and there are many sucessful treatments, more women are living after BC than ever before. Your wife is already a survivor.
