Is the funding for the "new fitness center at the St. Clair Shores Civic Arena Complex" which was voted for nearly unanimously by the St. Clair Shores City Council on Monday in answer to the the many requests made by the Seniors of St. Clair Shores for improvements and expansion to the Senior fitness room which are so desperately needed or is this federal funding approval by the St. Clair Shores for "hockey players". Please clarify this. Thank you

Seriously! The area they are talking about is hardly used and a waste of space. The renovation is on then area side not the senior side. What does this have to do with them? They have a wonderful area which they did not pay for. They get what they want from public money and no one under 50 can use it. That sounds exclusive to me. Why they care about what is going on on the other side of the complex has me confused. Do we want people to come to our community or not? Do we want folks with young families to come here or not? How much money does the city get from the senior center? Nothing! Leave the kids alone. The hockey Association is not a private club. ANYONE CAN JOIN! They have never turned anyone away. We should all want what is best for our community. Grown up people! Shut up Candice!

People in Washington still don’t understand that unless they balance that trade, they (the Chinese) are going to wind up owning the whole world. They don’t need a communist revolution, they’ll just buy it. The function of gold is to balance, make sure that you take in as much as you spend, and they’ve castrated the dollar long ago. We are headed for real trouble somewhere ahead....

We need to hold on to the rainy day fund as long as possible, the worse times are coming fast and we need to elect smart people on CC

Yeah having the city get in trouble w/ the gov because the city didn't pass this exact plan by the hud agency first is a great idea.

Anyone can join the hockey association? So there's no tryouts? Registration fees? Age limits? Skill requirements? really.

No one is getting "in trouble" with the government first of all. And yes there are leagues of all ages and open skating for all ages. REALLY! And I believe the seniors get to skate for free during certain hours.

However, you must be 50 and pay a whole $5 to join and use the senior center facilities-lounge,$3 lunches (EVERY DAY) excercise equiptment, computer lab, computer classes, dinners, dances, bocce ball courts, shuffle board courts, state of the art kitchen--------all built and funded on tax dollars and CDGB (Govt. Grant) funds. They have never raised a penny and never say thank you either.

The area at the ice rink des not effect them at all. They are just mad because they want more for nothing.

You have no argument.

YES! And team too. Go hang out there some night. You will see.

I guess if someone were to put offer to put $15,000 dollars of updates into your house and you only had to come up with $4000 and you would still own it with no strings attached you would say no.

Come on! Yourself.

What? I know because it was mentioned at the meeting. Listen to Chris Reyes. He says they didn't tell HUD that an organization was involved.

Open skating isn't the hockey association. You think the open skaters will be able to use the room? Lol

The seniors never raised a penny? What about all those fundraisers they have.

Senior centers are an okay thing to spend that block grant money on. Different requirements for $1 hud cash. Call the hud office and ask.

Not Rusie sorry. Surprise other people have issues with this.

You call them. They are probably on your speed dial anyway.

You already told me and all SCS residents something we did not know.

Candice Rusie says that anyone can use any city facility any time they want. I think I will workout at the senior center tomorrow even though I am not 50.
sorry

Is it legal to use that money for home improvements? Can I know who gave it first?

Is it legal to use that money to replace all the trees the city cut down on my street? I paid the money for a new one, but the rest of my neighbors wouldn't spend money for water if their grandmother were on fire. My street looks like the moon without a tree in sight, nothing like when I bought here in 2001.

Its sickening the amount of time, money and effort this city wastes on BS that the average Joe Taxpayer will never use or see. Covered bocce courts and fitness rooms for jocks (doesn't every HS have this kinda stuff?) Just like Washington DC... If you're a special interest group that makes a lot of noise, you get tax money. Government no longer repairs infrastructure or protects citizens (without a millage) because everybody is too busy circle-jerking their buddies. Everybody is against waste, until they waste a little on you.

I collect stamps rather than beating up seniors or spray painting walls... When is Uncle Sugar gonna fund my hobby?

I have a check for the fitness room in the amount of 20,000 but I don't want you to know who Iam. I have not given it to the city. I waiting on how things go tonight at the cc meeting. Thanks Ron for your vote. You will get a check too from either me or my business associate. Im sure glad those old farts didn't get that money or those little brats on skateboards.
