yes, lets table the idea of creating a "job coach" position for someone who is qualified. When in actuality, the position has already been filed. The new positions that are being created are for the new coaches. My guess is, more teachers will be laid off in the next few weeks. Next months board meeting will be held in Hawaii at the tax payers expense ofcourse. May need to lay off a few more teachers so we can afford to do so.

there is enough muscle brian-less kids walking the hall now...just how many of the sport kids...speacking of the boys.... go to college that dont get scholarships. most of them cant score high enough on the A.C.T to get in and if they get in they drop out..middlesboro has had great players that could not get in to school...as long as they can play ball who cares if they learn.

This will make 3 P.E./Health teachers at the high school...Kenny Roark, Tim Millett and the newly hired football coach Randy Frazure. The job coach position was filled the last two weeks of school by Brian Crawford. So they can create position for football coaches but they have to dismiss dozens of aides and newly hired teachers. This board's priorities are absurd. It's obvious that Dr. Cook's emphasis is on sports and not education. Is it true that she is giving the West End principal position to one of her friends?

My favorite created job, Grant writer and public relations. Really? That is absurd. Maybe someone will write and get a grant so our kids can go to school all day every other Wedneday and they can hire back some teachers and aides they had to lay off to create this position. Like it or not, the other jobs are at least for the benefit of the kids, how the heck is a PR person going to help the students?

This is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard or seen. Why do we fire aides and teachers because we say we don't have the money and then create MORE administrative positions. This super is going to ruin our schools. I would think that if she is hired for over $100,000 per year she should be able to write grants. If not, we don't need her. We need to go to the next School Board meeting and raise hell. I want my kids to be educated by teachers not by administrators. Actually we need to start voting out the current Board members. They have lost touch with the schools. No wonder our kids have problems. WE NEED EDUCATORS - NOT ADMINISTRATORS. We need to wipe the slate clean and start over again. The Board (or is it BORED) of Education is supposed to educate our kids. They fund athletics and make the Odyssey kids raise their own money. Stop the insanity people. WE NEED EDUCATORS.

She fired the principal at West and is going to give it to her friend who got beat for it last year. He is a good man and was changing that school into a good one. Vote the Board out. We can't lose teachers and aides and get more white collar people with big salaries. I will be at the next meeing to voice my opinion. What happens when parents start pulling their kids out and put them in another school system. We lose money and we lose more teachers but keep the aedministrators. I also heard this new woman never actually taught a classroom of kids. Is that true? If so how did the board hire her? Something really stinks here folks. We need to find out.

Have you ever wondered why we had so many people in a school, that actually do nothing. When we were in school we had one teacher to a classroom of twenty kids. Why is it now that we must have three to a classroom and not to mention the countless number of aides who don't even have any certification to teach in a school. Yeah we don't want them to lose their jobs, but come on people we're paying them a paycheck to do nothing. Their jobs were not mandatory, so there was no need to keep them. As far as these new positions, the only one I see that may be beneficial is the grant writer. We need money coming into our schools, but not to be spent on sports, we need it for educational purposes, because in the real world it takes an education to get a job, not what kind of sport you played in high school. Maybe she thinks if we have a good sports program that our schools will increase in population, not exactly sure where they're going with this, but quit complaining about everything this superintendent does. It takes time and each one is different. This woman can't fart without someone complaining it stinks, when they're farting right next to her smelling worse.

Back in our day, teachers were allowed to teach and you WILL learn or else. Those days are long gone. What a shame.
You are correct, only one teacher per class. An aide or outsider was unheard of. We had a much better educational system in those days.

As far as sports. Plain and simple, that's where the money is!

The superintendent, board members, teachers don't give a damn about your little "darlings". They want that pay check and nothing more.

The board is nothing more than a social clique, catering only to the well-to-do and butt kissing mommies.

You are so wrong. All I'll say is this, "Go to a school and teach for a few weeks and then give us your opinion about teachers not giving a damn and just wanting a check."

You obviously like to complain, so put your money where your mouth is.

Sounds like you need a taste of the "old school".
I've put my money where my mouth is. I pay School taxes which are the highest tax we have and for what?

You need to learn about school politics. NO they don't give a damn.

Last time I checked no sports program, except maybe the girls basketball, softball and baseball teams even had a winning season this year. Honey, this school system is NOT all about sports. In fact, they are the farthest thing from it. In many districts the sports teams rule what goes on, the school calendar, the schedule and the hirees. What you have is a newbie super, who DID NOT teach in a classroom, who is trying to run things the way they do in Kansas. For example, the early release days. On the other hand, you have a board who is loving the power and a few chicks in the school system who pretend to be her friend so they can get what they want.

ok you can bash the new super but when u start on teachers assistant i have to speak up. First, u have to have at least 2yrs of college to be a teachers assistant. Second u have to pass a test to be sure ur quilfied to be a assistant. As far as what they do while their their heres u a list.
1 change diapers
2 lunch and other duties to be sure you angels dont kill one another.
3 assit the kids in the classroonms who cant keep up with the orther kids
4.lift the handicap kids and assit with there bathroom needs
5 Attend speacil classes with speacil needs kids so the teacher can actually teach u angels
6 make copies so the kids will have work to do
this is just a few i can think of off the top of my head. By the way my child is one of those speacil needs kids who cant go to school with out an aid. sorry my child is in a wheel chair wish he could change his own diaper but he cant! I know teacher assistant might not me much to u but these children need them. They dont make but about 13,000 a yr u could pay 4 of them for one teachers job!

You make the assumption I don't know. I am at school around 180 days a year. Yes, I am one of the teachers who you say doesn't give a damn. I had my taste of the old school and now the new.

I say again, come and get you some and see what goes on daily before you talk about that which you obviously don't know. By the way, I pay a lot of taxes too. Did a teacher piss you off a long time ago or did a teacher say something to your kid you didn't like.

It's easy to complain and bitch. It's harder to go and find what is really happening. You have my invitation. If you want to come to school and get educated, instead of bad mouthing, let me know.

I don't know how old you are,but I'm in my 40's and I remember the upper class ALWAYS got the preferred treatment by the teachers. The advaced class were all kids in izoid shirts,Levi's and high dollar shoes and the children of the lower class got stuck in the remedial classes. It's always been a social class thing....
