Take care of your bones! I cannot stress this enough. I was always active as a young person (now 68) but I smoked. I figured I'd escape the disease because I didn't fit all the categories. Now I have osteoporosis and am in terrible pain - worse than labor pains. I am taking daily shots to attempt to build the bone but I'm afraid it's too little, too late. Come on gals, get smart!

The National Osteoporosis Foundation has great information about risk factors, treatment, prevention (yes - it can be prevented), and support groups. They also have a new walking/fundraising program that let's your every day steps count as Steps for Strong Bones with online tracking, a pedometer, and walking and fundraising incentives. I'm going to live how I want to live. I will never give up coffee just to live a few years longer. I walk when I can, and do yoga here and there, but only to feel good. It seems like when people hit a certain age, they think that if they do this and that, they can live forever.

This can benefit a lot of people especially those who are worried about being affected with bone diseases.
