South Korea, Japan lead in broadband quality study

The annual study, conducted by the universities of Oxford and Oviedo and sponsored by Cisco, showed that 62 out of the 66 countries had improved the quality of consumer broadband services since last year.

That is very interesting. I have read a few chat room messages complaining about the quality of broadband in Lithuania. Yet, according to this study, Lithuania is ranked fourth in the world while the U.S. is ranked sixteenth.

Perhaps it is the customer service that is the problem -- and not the broadband itself. I don't remember.

I live near the ninth largest city in the U.S. and the broadband in excellent. In fact, one county to the north uses fiber optics (versus cable or telephone lines), which is supposed to be just incredible. Because the U.S. is so large, I know that there are still many rural areas that do not get broadband (or have to use inferior services such as satellite).

I have been thinking of living for a summer in Vilnius and working from my computer. This exact issue has been a concern of mine.

Perhaps a few persons from Lithuania could share their experience regarding (1) broadband quality in Vilnius,(2) how many companies offer this service there,(3) which company is the best, and (4) what quality of customer service you receive.

I was thinking that I might have been in Asia forum or something becoz of the title. :) Glad to hear the news. Here in Skorea broadband isnt only fast but also the service itself is fantastic. In some foreign countries I heard that it takes just a few of weeks to install broadband service but here you can get it immediately at the very day when you need it. And usually you can get wireless service everywhere :)

I dont know what broadband quality is in Vilnius, but in Kaunas its very good.
2.
There 2 major ISP's ('Mikrovisata' & 'Zebra') and more than five (I think) smaller ISP's.
3.
I'd personaly recommend 'Mikrovisata'.
4.
Customer service works fast, if there's a problem just call them and they will provide help as soon as posible. I've been using this internet for more than 3 years , didn't have any big problems, internet always works.
