I forgot to mention...the newspaper was, of course, the Las Cruces Sun-News.

But you knew that....didn't you!

So now the Doa Ana County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Work Group wants to mandate that teachers get to teach your children a required course in sex ed.

Do you want the teachers to teach this course before or after the ones they have to teach to get your kiddies to pass AYP each year?

You parents in the worst county in the worst state for teen pregnancies ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Stop excusing it as "a cultural thing" and start being responsible to and for your children!

Disgraceful!

NM also ranks at the bottom of the barrel in academics, what are they going to do about that? I don't hear too much talk about improving the curriculum for those students who can't seem to read or write? Teens today KNOW what prevents pregnancy, they just don't/won't use contraceptives to avoid pregnancy. Must be a cultural thing?
Cultural thing? Man your stupid..

I happen to be a female. I guess my attempt to be sarcastic failed.
I am equally as frustrated as everyone here. I have three daughters, one is 25 (almost 26), my middle daughter is 17 and my baby is 7. The two older girls haven't gotten pregnant, and won't until they're ready. They had/have goals in life and a baby was not part of the equation. I think for alot of these girls who are getting pregnant, they think this is the only goal they have in life, is to be a teenage Mom. I've taught my girls that no matter what a guy tells you, you make damn sure (when the time it right for you) that he is protected, because he won't be there for you when/if you do get pregnant. I also told them I would never kick them out because of a pregnancy, but do not look to me for any babysitting services. They and they alone are responsible for any human they bring into the world. I find mother's of the teenage mother willingly raise these grandbabies and allow their daughter's free rein. Not in my house.
