Another Hawaiian gone bad. These stories never end. "Proud to be Hawaiian" has no meaning anymore. Parents too busy protesting the love for the land or drinking all the time.

morals and values are what these kids lack, and we can blame the parents for that. you can't expect the schools to teach them that, it starts with the up bringing and if that parents have no morals then neither will the kids. also to add the last name of this kid is samoan, not hawaiian.

I totally agree. Remember we still have to deal with the ACLU.
The ACLU has damaged the very essence of our democratic society by supporting the wrong people for the wrong purpose. They even support the enemy combatants in Guantanamo Bay because they are denied due process by the Constitution of the United States. No person who violates the rights of another person should have any rights under the Constitution. The term enemy combatants is going to be changed to a more softer term because of the efforts of the ACLU. Before we can restore any semblence of a justice system, we must hurdle the roadblocks put up by the ACLU for the sake of the rights of criminals that prey on our citizens in this democratic society. Commit a crime and the ACLU is right there to protect you.

Every one of these naughty boys needs to go and get himself a paper route for spending money...

But seriously, these bad eggs will probably get, at most, 5 years served concurrently. Then, they will get time off for good behavior, blah, blah, blah, be out in 2 years. You watch!

Parents teach morals and ethics and the DOE supplies the students with the tools for what ever the child chooses to use it for. The DOE can offer the tools for a great future and it is up to the student to grasp it or not.

I've heard about that situation during the Vietnam war were young men who were getting into trouble were given an option to either enlist or go to prison and many chose to enlist...what happened is that we had a lot of druggies coming back not all but many. You can figure out the rest.
I hear that they have been doing that since the 40's actually. Good point.

All you people have a lot to say, you don't know kids that grow up in the housing are surrounded by crime, violence and drugs. They are more likely to go to jail or end up dead then say some one that grew up in better environment. Blame the government for not helping these kids have a better life!

So, work hard to improve yourself. It's the American Way.
This is why we need to end welfare, and instead use the money to offer job skill and life skill training.
If you live in the projects, working hard in school to get OUT of the projects should be the logical direction to take in life.
