I also want to add that pelvic exams aren't even performed on asymtomatic women in Europe (except Germany) or Australia.

Hello Julia, not sure if you will return to the board, cant believe your mother put you through that at your age, especially if it was a man, I would suggest in the future if you are forced into something you are very uncomfortable with, make sure its a female doctor, stand your ground its your body, don't let them trick you into submission, be strong and firm with them, it is your right to see a female doctor for intimate exams, but at your age without a serious problem totally unnecessary. To me its like grooming you for future intrusive visits with a gyny.
Well, now that her own mom has her hooked up with a male doctor she'll probably be seeing him all the time now. She's posting on another thread about getting a positive pregnancy test.

John it is disgusting IMO and shows how easy it is to brainwash us. Google is highlighting many problems including health procedures, as it spreads, more will become educated, I hope. The mother is brainwashed by society, media coverage, friends and family all been there and done it. The culture needs to change IMO.
She needs a wake up call - perhaps this:

Bradley case considered the worst ever in healthcare

T
he case of Earl B. Bradley, MD, is so sickening that no one wants even the most remote association with it. After Bradley was arrested and convicted of abusing children, the property housing his pediatric clinic, which was the scene of the crimes, couldn’t be sold even for a pittance. The city demolished it and hoped to wipe away a terrible reminder.

Bradley was sentenced on Aug. 25, 2011, to 14 life sentences without parole

for 14 counts of first-degree rape. He also was sentenced to more than 160 years in

prison for multiple counts of assault and sexual exploitation of a child.

Trial testimony indicates that Bradley was arrested in December 2009 after a

2-year-old girl complained to her mother that the doctor had hurt her. The girl

had made an earlier complaint to her father after a previous visit.

The horrific nature of Bradley’s crimes were compounded by the fact that he could have been stopped earlier. Bradley’s own sister worked in his office and told police in 2005 that her brother was bipolar and taking medication from the office. She also reported that several

parents had complained about Bradley inappropriately touching patients. Two pediatricians interviewed by police in 2005 also told investigators about complaints from Bradley’s former

patients. Staff and colleagues expressed concern about lengthy, unnecessary vaginal

exams of young patients, but an internal review by the practice determined they were acceptable.

Acting on the 2009 complaint, investigators arrested Bradley and searched his Lewes, DE, pediatric office, which was known as particularly welcoming to children because it was decorated with Disney themes and miniature amusement park rides. They seized dozens of

homemade videos from an outbuilding where Bradley had lured patients with promises of treats and toys. With the tapes in evidence, Bradley waived his right to a jury trial. At a one-day bench trial in June 2011, prosecutors presented testimony from two police investigators

and produced more than 13 hours of videos showing sex crimes against more than 80 victims, most of whom were toddlers.

State police detective Scott Garland described the rapes caught on video as brutal and violent. He explained how some videos showed Bradley with his hands wrapped tightly around the heads of young children, violently forcing them to perform oral sex on him and also terrorizing children by screaming at them. When Bradley was finished with the

assaults, he would lift up the young victims by the head and throw them several feet onto a couch in the rear of the building, Garland testified. The children often were nearly

unconscious from the assaults. Bradley sometimes would perform “rescue breathing” and chest rubs to revive the semiconscious victims, the detective added.

In response to the Bradley case, Delaware enacted a law that requires criminal background checks of physicians every six months. The law would not have helped catch Bradley, who had no criminal background.

Our oldest girl is just turned 12, & unfortunately she had her first gyno this morning. We have a history of cervical cancer in the family, & so after consulting with our family G.P we decided to start her earlier. He was very good though, & it wasnt too intrusive, & was more observational. You are in a Catch 22 scenario at that age, because you cant do a proper gyno exam until she loses her virginity.
Your daughter is a child. Any doctor who would perfor an intimate exam on an asymptomatic child is a pedophile and should be charged w/sexual assault, your an accessory to the crime. Friggin' discusting!

I'm so glad you delivered this message "live and direct" - what are these mother's thinking - at the very least BE BOTHERED ENOUGH TO GET A FEMALE DOCTOR

And how can a pelvic exam on a 12 yr old girl - by a grown ass male Dr - NOT be too intrusive?

I'm ok, Mom said that she is taking the advice of trained medical doctors not from anomyous people in the internet.

She did say I could go to female doctor next year.

My exam went ok and my digital exam was normal for someone my age.

thanks,

Hi JuliaT1997. I just want you to know that here in Australia girls and women don't go for yearly exams because there's no need to unless you have problems.(Our doctors are honest). So I am just wondering why do American women think that they need these yearly exams. Also, young boys in your country don't get their testicles and penises checked every year, so why do you Americans think that girls reproductive organs are ticking time bombs?
Cancer is an old person's disease. Young people rarely get cancer and if they did it would be luekemia most probably. Not ovarian, cervical or breast cancer. These are older women diseases. If you lived in another part of the world you would see how your doctors are just telling you BS to keep themselves in business. If you came here and asked a doctor for a pelvic exam when you have no symptoms they would think there's something weird about you. I'm just trying to give you another perspective on the matter.I'm not critising you but you need to think for yourself. When I was young doctors told us we all needed to have our tonsils removed. Now hardly anyone needs them out because doctors got found out.
If you want to see how badly you need a test tell your doctor you've got no insurance. Suddenly all these exams aren't nearly so important. That's what my American friends have told me.

Answer; American male doctors love young attractive woman's genitals, sad but true. They scare the heck out of woman with the threat of the big C. Cancer is very serious, no doubt. Don't make a mockery of it. Breast cancer is seriouse, of course. How many male doctors give woman a breast exam every chance they get? There is even an acronym for it , T U B E D, Totally unecassary breast exam, how sad is that. There not really worried about cancer, just getting their jollies, sick and disgusting ! Scum bags.
