My son was not involved in this attack purely by a matter of minutes. He was with his group of friends just a few minutes before they were video taped being threatened and attacked. My son came to the park right after it happened and was very upset to see his friends....(8th graders) bleeding and scared. This made him feel guilty that he wasn't there to help. Of course him being there would have been another victim, but in his 13 year old mind he thinks what if I was here to help. That's not fair for my son to feel guilt, because four guys wanted to victimize little kids. No my son didn't get assaulted this time, but what about next time. I live in Windmill Farms and pay my $495 homeowners association fees!!!!! When I moveed here 3 years ago I didn't know much about Forney except that it had great schools and was a safe place to raise kids. I didn't mind paying our HIGH HOA fees more than double all other Forney communities(ei Fox Hollow, Heartland, etc) but I want something for my money. I bought my house here because there was going to be so much for the kids and a golf course.....still waiting. We have 3 schools in our development which screams private secuirty patrol. I don't know what the HOA money is used for because grass is not cut on a regular basis, the pool doesn't have chairs, the few tiny parks that we have are dirty. I say use our money for a security guy to cruise around Windmill Farms 24/7. Heartland does it, but charges much less HOA fees and still cuts the grass. This assault not only occured at our neighborhood park/pool area, but right beside the main road and nobody (adult) saw anything or helped. Our streets are also very dark in many areas and I certain not at safety standards. Enough is enough! I demand along with lots of other residents of Windmill Farms to have the HAO step up and make us safe!!!!! We have to protect our kids!!!!

My question is, if we as parents do see this occurring, what are we supposed to do? I live right down the road from where this took place. If I did see it and tried to step in, I believe I would have become a victim just as the kids were. I could sit back and watch and call 911, but how close are county officers when you need them? Would the sheriff's department respond in enough time to actually do anything? I am not bashing the sheriff's department, I am just concerned about response times and how we as citizens can help prevent this from happening again? I've tried to contact the Windmill farms crime watch for meeting dates ect. and I never recieved a response. I believe if the HOA can't provide a patrol, then we as parents in the community should work together to keep our kids safe. I am very uncomfortable with just sitting back and waiting for someone else to take the lead on preventing this from happening again.

What video tape? There's no video tape. If there is, somebody needs to get that to the police asap.

I think our community (windmill farms) as well as several others IN Forney need to be annexed into the city limits. If something happens FPD will not respond, it is Kaufman County's jurisdiction. That bothers me and I agree totally with angry mom that we need a security officer as well as a neighborhood crime watch that works!

I agree there should be more potrol at windmill farms. I live in town but the thought of my child going to visit a friend from there, is way out of the question. And that's sad.
Mostly whats sad is what these ******** did to people smaller and weaker than them. And I hope at least one reads this. Because you and the others are the bigest chicken shits, and will be found.

I also beleive its our job to protct the children. And if one was my child or not, Im there with a bat and ready to protect! Why not you??

Sometimes we have to take care of things ourself. Form groups "Neighborhood Watch" and get control of Neighborhood. HOA can be a good thing but when anything with lots of money involved, things go bad. Get Control of your neighborhood. Whatever it takes!!!

I was going to consider buying in this area, but I have changed my mind. Yall can have that mess. I don't want to get stuck paying stupid HOA fees for the rest of my life and still must worry about the hood and the hoodlums. And race should never be a factor in who committing because hoodlums come in all races...whites, blacks, browns, yellows, and reds... Trust me, I done seen them in all forms. The solution for you guys is to fire or vote your HOA governing body out. Choose someone else who will spend the money correctedly. I know there are a group of SAHMS in this community that can band together and get elected for HOA positions. No disrespect to the men, but I feel women seem to typically have to take over and clean up after men mess anyways. I dont know why females have to be in charge in order to get things done ethically and correctly. I see it more and more in corporate America. So please females, stand up and take authority over your hood and stop letting those HOA and street hoodlums run your town.

I to was considering purchasing a home here but, don't think I would be interested in this kind of community. I fell safer here in the country protecting my family rather than paying for a HOA to sit back and do nothing. HAVEN'T HAD ANY ISSUES HERE!!!

Just so you know I work for the City of Forney and the Fornwy Police Department does respond to serious offenses that occur in Windmill Farms when the police department is notified and requesting assistance from the city police department. Jurisdiction falls to Kaufman County but FPD has responded to Windmill Farms on several occasions. Before making accusatory sstatements, go to the Forney PD and request all records for police response to WMF.

I'm planning to buy in forney. It has been a fee years now. Is security and safety still an issue here?

Security is an issue here. I do not recommend moving here until it is taken care of. My family has only been here for a year and a half and I am trying to get out. It is a work in progress.

There is more bad to this HOA than not caring to protecting the fee paying homeowners and their families. The HOA is rather Gestapo-like with the homeowners.

Truly, if you add it all together, it is a big steaming pile.

This thread is over a year old and it has only gotten worse. A teenager brought a loaded pistol to one of the pools this summer. I'm not kidding, this place is crazy. They yell and scream back at the pool monitors when they get in trouble for jumping the fence. Forney PD has responded a few times a week to the pool due to this crap. Yes, I said a few times a week. All summer.
