Hilary Rosen: The Insiders: Same-sex marriage -- it's personal

Mar 26, 2013 Full story: The Washington Post 55

My children face many pressures in life. They are both adopted and biracial. If you asked them, they would say that the fact that their parents are gay is pretty far down the list of things that bother them.

Yes indeed fruitcakes across the land are giddy over the possibility of marriage in their future. The fact of the matter is it's not about love, etc. It's all about receiving SS and other benefits in the case of the demise of a spouce.
Frankly there will probably be hetros marrying just to ride the gravy train. Let's say one of two aging lifelong business buddies are dying of a terminal illness. All they have to do is marry on paper and presto benefits and inheritance go to the survivor.

It would be nice if this forum had an edit feature like most others do. I would have corrected spouse and is for the few capable of spotting such mistakes.

NBC's Pete Williams reports from outside the Supreme Court following the Prop 8 oral arguments.
By Tom Curry, Political Reporter, NBC News
In a historic argument on a challenge to state laws that limit marriage to heterosexual couples, the Supreme Court indicated Tuesday that it might be hesitant to strike down such laws.

Following the oral argument, Pete Williams of NBC News reported that it seemed “quite obvious that the U.S. Supreme Court is not prepared to issue any kind of sweeping ruling” declaring that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry.

Williams said there seemed to be “very little eagerness” from any of the justices to “embrace that broad a ruling.”

<quoted text>You're absolutely right. The homosexuals have no business meddling with a 3000 year old covenant between two members of the opposite gender. You would think they would have something better to do with their rather limited time on this planet. You shouldn't call them fruitcake's, that gets their leather pants all in a wad.
marriage was initiated by governments.

that is historical fact. your religious cult didn't get into the game uintil the 24th century and then only to bless the state sponsored marriage on the steps of their church by some flunkie, not even a priest...

you should learn about the topics you comment on lest you continue to look like the ifgnorant fool you are...

Dear, you need to get with the times, step towards the twentyfirst century and look forward and not backward:

..."As the Supreme Court begins to hear oral arguments in cases involving two high-profile laws to do with same-sex marriage - California's Proposition 8 and the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act -53 percent of Americans think it should be legal for same-sex couples to marry, while 39 percent say it should not be legal".

Or perhaps you anti-same sex folks have inferiority complexes and don't like others being happy and committed to each other? Which one is it?
