Stepping Stone plants memorial tree

Oct 29, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Portsmouth Daily Times

Staff from The Counseling Center, current clients, previous alumni, members of the board of trustees, nurses from Southern Ohio Medical Center and pastors from Cornerstone United Methodist Church, braved the cold, wet wind Monday afternoon to plant a tree in front of the Stepping Stone House on Second Street in Portsmouth.

nice to plant the tree

But addicted women who WANT to quit drugs, but dont want to do it with their kids in a daycare with other kids(whohave never had any guidance)
Also spend months with criminals/hookers,etc
alot of idiots come through there just trying to get out of trouble
If you really want to quit, try suboxone
it works
stepping stones brainwash works but sucess rate is low
Get your life back by making other options work for you.
I know kids who have lice in there, as well as a bed bug outbreak. They put down suboxone bc it takes their business away
try it

You have a point there. Maybe they dont like the competition. The only people getting addiction treatment at stepping stoned are those on welfare. Not many options for anyone else. Save the welfarians so they can keep reproducing. Not exactly survival of the fittest. Suboxone will revolutionize the way pain pill addiction is treated. There are those who fear the end of the gravy train. The brainwashing is a fact.

Ok let's not go to treatment because out of 50 woman there may be head lice.... Really? When your laying in random house for dope or sleeping with whomever for dope did you really care if they had lice??? Hell no as long as they had dope you didn't give a shit. You say stepping stones brainwashes?? They need to because a drug addicts mind is screwed up do they need to be shown another way of thinking!! At least there is a roof over the addicts head, a daycare to watch their children (instead of the alternative which is the child on the street or in cps care), food in the addicts mouth! So what if the majority are welfarians at least they are getting help

If more people went in there and used the tools that SSH gave them then maybe there would be a higher success rate. The statistics are only 1 in 10 stay sober without a relapse. Stepping Stones is not God or any other higher power that you believe in. The show addicts the path and tell them what they need to do to stay clean! It is up to the addict whether they follow the path or not.

Shame upon you, gary. You talk in other places of believing in a Christian life, with faith and love, and you behave THIS way here?

As you do towards the least, you do towards your God.

You shame yourself.

I agree with what you are saying. I mean all you can do is give them the tools & suggestions to live by. If they don't apply it to their lives then that's on them.

Not the point i was making. Dont go in because of lice??? NO- dont go in to put your kids in care with some of the most unruly kids out there. Their parents never gave a crap till they got sober. I would never put my kids in a place like that. Stepping stones recruits from jail. Most of the women in there make contacts when they get out. Read my post again. This is the point. But yes lice and bedbugs are disgusting, and most of you dont think there is anything wrong with spreading it around. SHow your kids a different life. If yours is so screwed up that ss roof is better than the one you are under now, by all means go!!! If you have a problem, but need help, dont throw yourself in there. Try your options. Once you find sobriety there, and see your pals screw everyone in marsh house etc, and relapse off one by one, then you will find subs then! Please whatever your problem is, get help now! there is hope for you!

I have alot of respect for S S and the counseling center. But locking you up, showing you how to do chores with other criminals who are only opting out of jail, can scare a person off fast without even getting clean! Sick of being sick? Try your options. Get help!

not all addicts lay in differnt houses, not all of them go where some of you have been. All levels of addictions. Take you to bad places and things, but some dont do what you did~ some just have issues but they take care of their kids etc/

Listen it doesn't matter where you go to get help its what you do with the help that is being offered. Whether it be stepping stones, marsh house, st Lucy's, outpatient, new beginnings, or just going to AA/NA.. It works if you work it period... Just going to jail works for some but not most! Not all addicts/alcoholics put their kids in bad situations but reality is 90% do. Why judge a place that has saved some lives. No, it does not save all but that is the addict/alcoholics fault, not the treatment centers!

I agree 100%. Im only judge them by them putting down every other method to get clean if not by them. It is a business and thats why nothing else will work in their eyes. I dont judge the people who have dedicated their lives to save another. I do think they should have seperate houses for the criminals. Many get kicked out for using before they finish. This is a bad influence. Many only go there to get their kids back and get out of jail. They need to seperate... and they wont. So try your outpatient options first before being scared away from getting clean all together

I know people who have stayed there for years and gone thru this program like a dozen times. Once they are in there they milk that medical card for all its worth. Then they just get out and stay on drugs. Big waste of money for such a low success rate. It does irritate me they have the nerve to put down all the other programs like they are experts.

This is a touchy subject with everyone. Most everyone has a friend or family member touched by addiction.

Drug addicts get clean ONLY if they're willing. ONLY if they WANT to.

The one in YOUR life apparently wasn't ready. The responsibility is HER'S alone, not the program, place and people she refused to let help her.

I agree 100%. A son of my acquaintance had an Oxy addiction. He even stole his mother's wedding rings and sold them for drugs. They spend thousands of dollars and sent him to 5 rehabs all over the United States. It never took. He ended up dying from Oxys. So sad.

I agree...I've known many people that have went to Stepping Stones. Most were court ordered & usually they relapsed but there are a handful that got back up & have good jobs with 3 to 4 years recovery.
