My prayers for all the victims in this tragedy...

Adam's family was well aware of what his disabilities were, they knew he had a personality disorder that was serious.
Why his mother ever taught him to shoot is beyond reason. Someone with a personality disorder should not be around guns.

Nancy had known that Adam had problems, and most recently all the trouble he had been causing at home. Why she chose to ignore it (oh whatever will the neighbors think!?) is beyond me. This is why Nancy appeared so High strung. She raised up a killer and was realizing it was already too late. She had already taught him how to shoot various weapons. Adam had grown to the point where he could overpower her if he wanted.

Adam definitely needed a therapy program to help him control his outbursts and also behavior modification therapy. His mother was ill prepared to deal with him by herself.
He should have been started in therapy to help him with outbursts and also social skills while he was young.

When the schools offered help, Nancy pulled him out and home schooled him.

Maybe it was that the family just couldn't accept their son as being Antisocial Personality Disorder, aka Conduct Disorder or Sociopath.

This is something that could have been avoided had the family institutionalized Adam, even if just a 24 hour evaluation. Failure to take threats seriously (not to mention firearms in easy reach) is a recipe for disaster.

Adam was isolated living up there with mom, and had he been involved in treatment, it would have forced him to interact with other people. This would have been healthy for him, had it been done.

Adam had been dealing with many issues, not living up to his parents expectations, competition with his brother (who had met his parents' expectations;
Isolation not talking to hardly a soul while living with mom

For random people who had known Adam to turn to slander when being interviewed by reporters, yes he was quiet and shy. However just because someone is quiet and shy and has Aspergers doesn't mean they are a bad person.

It's those who have uncurable personality disorders such as (Sociopathy) APD or Borderline BPD or NPD that we have to watch out for.

Nancy likely didn't want to bother others asking for help with her son, yet it is something i'm sure she would have done had she seen this coming.

Increase in School Shootings Linked to Antidepressant Prescription Drugs

Shooter Eric Harris was taking the antidepressant Luvox at the time he and Dylan Klebold opened fire at Columbine High School, killing 12 students and a teacher and wounding 26 others before killing themselves. At least one public report exists of a friend of Klebold who witnessed Klebold taking the antidepressants Paxil and Zoloft and urged him to come off them. Officially, Klebolds medical records remain sealed.

Fact: Between 2004 and 2011, there have been over 11,000 reports to the U.S. FDAs MedWatch system of psychiatric drug side effects related to violence. These include 300 cases of homicide, nearly 3,000 cases of mania and over 7,000 cases of aggression. Note: By the FDAs own admission, only 1-10% of side effects are ever reported to the FDA, so the actual number of side effects occurring are most certainly higher.

Health Impact News Editor Comments: The article below was written by Dr. Mercola prior to the recent shooting incident in Ohio, as was the Fox News story above on school shootings and antidepressant drugs which was filmed in 2007. This was a rare story from the mainstream media taking an honest look at the link between psychotic drugs and the increase in school shootings. I am surprised Fox News allowed the story to be aired, given how many of their sponsors are pharmaceutical companies that manufacture these drugs.

We only need to ask one simple question to determine what could have set the teenage gunman off. That question is: What psychiatric drug was he taking or withdrawing from? Sometimes simple questions are the hardest to ask. That question would be hard for the media to ask, because after reporting the event, taking station breaks for advertisements for antidepressants and sedatives might give big media editors and producers indigestion, since their very existence depends on Big Pharma sponsorship. That question would be hard for some politicians to ask because it might jeopardize Big Pharma campaign contributions (footnote 2). And that question might be hard for many Americans to ask because they are consuming psychiatric medications like candy.

School Violence
The following are reports of teens committing acts of school violence during an 18 year period from 1988-2006 (footnote 3), beginning only one year after the first SSRI antidepressant was approved for the U.S. market for adult use only. More than half of the teens committing these acts were taking SSRI antidepressants.

1988
1. September 26, 1988, South Carolina: James Wilson, 19, went on a shooting spree in an elementary schoolyard in Greenwood, killing two 8 year olds, and wounding 7 other children and 2 teachers. He was taking Xanax and for the eight months prior to the shooting had been taking several psychiatric drugs.

1997
2. October 1, 1997, Pearl, Mississippi: Luke Woodham, 16, shot two students to death and wounded seven others after beating and stabbing his mother to death. Public reports say the boy was taking Prozac.
3. December 1, 1997, West Paducah, Kentucky: 14-year-old Michael Carneal was on Ritalin, when he started firing a gun during a prayer meeting at a high school, killing three teens aged 14 to 17, and wounding five other students, including one who is paralyzed.

1998
4. March 1998, Arkansas: Andrew Golden, 11, and cousin Mitchell Johnson, 13, went on a shooting spree at Westside Middle School in Arkansas, killing four students and one teacher. Nine students and a teacher were also wounded. In a review of the book Teenage Rampage: The Worldwide Youth Phenomenon, both boys were reported to be taking Ritalin.
5. May 21, 1998, Oregon: 15-year-old Kip Kinkel murdered his parents and then proceeded to school where he opened fire on students in the cafeteria, killing two and wounding 22. Kinkel had been taking Prozac and an amphetamine.
6. Pocatello, Idaho: An unnamed 14 year old held 5 classmates hostage with a gun. He surrendered to the police and fortunately no one was hurt. He was taking Zoloft.

1999
7. April 16, 1999, Idaho: 15-year-old Shawn Cooper fired two shotgun rounds in his school, narrowly missing students. He was taking a prescribed SSRI antidepressant and Ritalin.
8. April 29, 1999, Taber, Alberta: An unnamed 14-year-old student from W.R. Myers High School shot two students, killing one. He began taking prescribed Dexedrine immediately prior to the shooting.
9. April 20, 1999, Colorado: 18-year-old Eric Harris, the ringleader in the Columbine massacre was taking Luvox that the coroner confirmed was in his system through toxicology reports. He and his co-shooter, Dylan Klebold killed 12 students and a teacher and wounded 23 others before killing themselves.
10. May 20, 1999, Georgia: 15-year-old T.J. Solomon was being treated with Ritalin when he opened fire on and wounded six of his classmates.

..... on and on it goes

Antidepressants, RITALIN AND ALL PSYCHIATRIC DRUGS may increase suicidal thoughts or behaviors in some children, teenagers, and young adults, especially within the first few months of treatment or when the dose is changed...

Psychiatric drugs should be the issue, not guns.
Not to mention their overall ineffectiveness.

Country girl, you are ignorant as fuck. I have a BPD diagnosis and I would NEVER walk into an elementary school and shoot people, let alone children. Hell, I could never kill anyone. To suggest that BPD is incurable only speaks of your ignorance to the plight of those with mental illness. Dialectical Behavior Therapy, also known as DBT is showing the BPD behaviors can totally disappear after DBT treatment and ongoing psychotherapy. Pick up a book. Better yet, pick up a recent psychological study. YOU and stupid people like you are the reason the media is having a field day with this story.
