Not surprised at the Ibarra comment regarding politics. "la zorra no se ve su cola" The Ibarra family's politics are the dirty politics that have caused a recall of board members and the district spending thousands of dollars on hiring an interim superintendent. They have made it their goal to get rid of board members and superintendent often creating a storm of intimidation with verbal attacks, in your face style. I wonder who will be their next target.

The new superintendent should put a stop on the intimidation and verbal attacks from the Ibarra family and the harassment they continue to inflict on district personnel-way out of line!

You have got to be kidding me. Jose Ibarra, isnt this one of the trustees brothers? Of course he is going to go along with this. Ramirez is a good friend of Castaneda...of course he is going to get the job. A friend told me the other day when he saw the interview list that he would get the nod for the job, not based on his skills, but his relationship with castaneda.....Paying Zendejas to be a consultant that is basically on paid leave? That means, she doesnt have to do anything for 10 months and get 200k, now that woman is smarter than you think..laughing all the way to the bank!. Ramirez has no superintendent experience at all. How do you think a person who was a good principal, can be a good superintendent without even being or working his way into associate or assistant? This smacks of the good ol' boys. How can this district afford to pay for two superintendents? This district needs new leadership all around. Remove the board and remove the two superintendents...bring in someone with experience in handling troubling issues and start fresh. Contract until 2013? I am so frustrated with all of the ignorance and politics of this district!

They are old friends as someone else had posted they both were house partners a few years ago in the creekbridge homes area. Castaneda had not been living at his moms address when he was appointed he was sharing a home out of the boundry area of his trustee area. We should ask Ramirez if this is true or not. This does look like the good ol boys taking care of each other. This district needs help and I am not sure someone with no experience is the person to do that.

What no one realizes YET is that John Ramirez is a friend of the Board President, Mr. Casteneda. He is not qualified to be a Superintendent as his only administrative positions have been as "principals" managing the budget of one school, not 11. He "was allowed to leave" the Salinas Union High School District after only one year as principal of Alisal High School because of "parent and staff concern" based on his actions as principal there. Maybe someone should interview some of his former teachers and parents who filed for his termination?

In addition, he's a proponent of charter schools based on his record from Visalia, where he petitioned to have his school (Alternative Ed/ROP-how's that for experience in the academic needs of grade school children?) turned into a charter school.

Lastly, isn't it funny that this interim superintendent is being put in place JUST before the State Trustee comes to oversee the District and Board? Especially strange considering that the Trustee will have no knowledge of the friendship between the Board President and the "new" Superintendent!!!! Hmmmmmm....

We do not have enough money for paper or pencils for our students. Teachers have to BEG for paper from their students.
One school in the district is not in program improvement. As a result, they are punished, they get no money. They do not have access to computers for their students and supplies are limited.
Just think what could be done with the money the Board is wasting on these administrators.

Merideth Ibarra is not good for the kids, I am pleased that there is a recall effort. Jose Ibarra wants to be a board member so bad that he works through his sister Merideth to spread his poison, he has the audacity to feel he can "reprimand" teachers, he is a disgrace to our profession. He and his other Ibarra brother feel that because thier sister is on the board that they can act anyway they want, being defiant and walking around so sure of themselves, I hope the new superintendent will fix this, that is unless they own him now. Go Go Go recall Ibarra!!!!!

$14,000 a month for consultant fees when teachers are getting laid off? Are you kidding? No wonder this county is a mess. Dissolve all the school boards and make it into one. Fire all the fat at the top and pay your teachers. Why is it no one seems to understand this country has too many overpaid chiefs running all the little indians?

I have had an oportunity to know Mr. Ramirez as a principal at El Sausal. From what I saw, he was very well liked by the students, parents, and staff.

What I don't agree with as he becomes the next Superintendent, is the fact that he accepts so much money. I understand that we all must work, but if it's true that he's here "for the children" just as everyone else seems to say, then why did he even agree to a $700.00 monthly payment for car expenses on top of the thousands he'll be getting monthly. How about leaving those $700.00 for the schools to buy crayons that won't brake, pencils that will sharpen, construction paper that won't fade in one day.

As for the Ibarras, I now hear that you're trying to get your sister in law to become a Board member as well. How nice of you. Let's make it a family affair. I would love to see that happen. Your sister can't seem to make a decision on her own. You, Jose have a difficult time translating from written words, what will your sister in law do? Please let your sister know that while she's complaining about teachers getting treats during workshops/meetings,migrant teachers going on trainings, she's being a hypocrite because she voted for Mr. Ramirez's $700.00 for car expenses while students lack basic materials in the classrooms. She should stop being a puppet. She should open her brain/mouth and make a decision because of what she really feels and not what Mr. Castaneda or her brother want.

Ramirez was a joke as a principal at Alisal High. He talks a big game, but doesn't put in the effort. He told the staff when he left, with tears running down his cheeks, his lies for leaving Salinas. The reality is that he has no integrity. He spent more time getting drunk at conferences (or vacations as he called them) than actually attending the trainings. If you're reading this, John, I hope you've matured and are ready to actually do some work. Because the man a lot of your former employees know is lazy, selfish, and a back-stabber. For the sake of the children, I hope you've changed. There are so many great people in education, but leaders like you make it hard to be a teacher. I would say your more of a used car salesman than administrator, but that would be insulting to used car salesman. Good luck AUSD, you'll need it.

I hope that Juan Ramirez comes in to the district with his heart on the kids in making change for the best. I know he is a good person that comes from good parents and the last thing he would want to see is our chicanitos fail more. So he lacks experience, I know that the some of the board members will work well with him. Finally, Zendejas is out, she should of being given the finger instead of that consultant job. Zendejas I hope you get a piece of your own pie. You are a person who does not deserve any good, you ruined a lot of persons in the district you puta.

I heard different. I heard whomever you are referring to has no relationship to this family. Where do you seem to get all your information from?

So then if Zendejas was there for the kids, why did she take the money? Every Superintendent in this county takes that amount of money or higher? Why is this Superintendent any different?

What is going on in Alisal is a travesty. The School Board and Superintendent should be replaced immediately. The 'in' fighting going on is a an immature saga of dishonesty, abuse of power, thirst for prestige and mismanagement of funds. What's worse is that innocent children and the tax payers are the victims of ongoing foul play and fraudulant behavior. Shame on John Ramirez for dirtying his hands in the mud of the school board's shameful nepotism and illigitimate transactions. John is not qualified for that position and the board had no business hiring him.
