This letter reinforces at thought I had this morning. The politicians would have us believe they are in it to help us. They are not. After a term or two, they are in it to help themselves. They do that quite well. These politicians tell us how hard it is to live on their $160K salary when they have to maintain two residences and commute back and forth to the district. Yet, it is difficult not to notice that their wealth is constantly moving up these very wide reporting brackets. Offhand, I can't think of any national politician whose wealth has declined while in office. I wonder why that is.

You need a taxpayer funded trip to Hawaii to learn how government works. Or perhaps a trip to Australia to learn about fish in Mississippi. Yep, our government cares so much for us they keep farm subsidies intact. This money doesn't go to grandma and grampa farmer. It goes to Con-Agra, Dole, Chiquita, and all the mega industrial strength farms that don't need it. And now we're sending billions of dollars of food to North Korea when our own citizens are fighting to make ends meet at the grocery store. Shame on you Mr. Bush. Stop funding the world at our grandchildrens expense. Charity begins at home, along with national security. If we have a natural disaster, or a terrorist invasion, it will take a long time for the National Guard to get here from Iraq. By the way, they are supposed to be here for that purpose in the first place, not fighting a pretend war on terror started by a drunk Texan.
