Has anyone of these people heard of churches?
Their foodbanks? How about menial labor for a few extra bucks? How about stop whining and get moving so that you can feed your kids? |

Go figure!Take some more out of the working peoples paychecks. If you cant afford kids you should not be allowed to have them.Too many people coming to America expecting a free ride because their relatives are doing it.Allentown take control of the dump your making of this town!I bet all these welfare scrubs have cell phones too.I know there is a need for it but it seems its too easy to get. When times get rough just have more kids!!!!!!!!!!

Not to be the entire budget but to supplement it. Come on, get a job, even if its babysitting for someone else for a few hours a week. Go to school and better your self to end the vicious circle and give your kids a good example. It can be done.

Just because you only get stamps once a month, doesn't mean you have to spend it all at once. It's called budgeting.

I've worked in a grocery store and seen many buy the more expensive version of an item ya know snapple instead of powder mix or tea bags, lots of junk food, all name brands all the while talking on their phone with their manacured nails treating the cashier like shat.like wic much better it forces them to only buy nutritional food for the children.sure wish the registers would have a button you could push to report potential abusers. yes i know you can call and report but can you get the number off the card without getting your ars beat

Buy store brands and generics.
Also, consider actualy getting a job that pays real money to supplement the taxpayer handout she recieves |

In addition, instead of the government issuing a card that looks like a credit card, go back to issuing them food stamp books.
In addition, the supermarket should set up a "food stamp only" line to everyone can see who is using the taxpayer to support themselves. If you can't support yourself or your children, consider giving up custody of your children to another family that can properly support them not on the taxpayer's dime. |

Food stamps come once a month, but pay checks come once a week.
If there's any justice in this, when they tax working Americans to the breaking point, we can all apply for the food stamps we paid for anyway. |

No offense, but has anyone seen the picture of this woman in the paper? She is far from starving! Hopefully she shares the food with her children and doesn't keep it all for herself!

The cost of food has increased for EVERYONE.
I received food stamps years ago and can still feed myself and two sons on less than $312/month easily --without food stamps. As Ms. Daniel states, food stamps were designed to supplement not sustain. Solutions are as simple as: Buy only what you eat in quantities that will be eaten. Plan meals, use coupons, buy reduced items and generic brands. There really is nothing wrong with day-old bread. Heck, Alabama sheriffs feed prisoner with $1.75/day. Do the math. Today's "poor" families have cars, televisions, microwaves, computers, cellphones, iPods, video games, narcotics, alcohol, lottery tickets, jewelry, hairpieces, etc., etc., but not a stitch of a steady employment. We need to teach welfare recipients how to direct their resourcefulness from consumption of charitable and government generosity and start directing resourcefulness toward improving families' lives. Can you hear my heart bleed? |

Perhaps if she gives up things like cell phones and cable television she'll have more money for food

Also one has to ask, where is the father?

Word on the street is you are. Catch up on your support checks Dave...they're looking for you. |

Thsi will all be funny when none of the working people can afford food because of the daily rising oil and food costs. Have you watched or read any local news? A lot of the food banks are depleted. I am not saying that SOME people do not abuse the system but the system is in place to help people. Not everyone makes six figures, and if this keeps up a lot more people will need help. |

wah wah wah - my paycheck comes once every two weeks - the food doesn't always last that long either. As far as Ms. Brown, perhaps she should've delayed having children until she was married and able to afford them. I work 40 hours a week to support myself, then the government takes the money I earned and hands it over to people like her - this is bullsht

I hate to be the one to deliver the reality check, but I haven't received a raise to keep up with the rising costs either. You make do to stretch the resources until payday- or you work extra.

You're saying that if you make over minimum wage you're not a working person? |
|

Well what about the single people that choose not to have kids and are taxed at a higher rate. I donot have any sympathy for these folks. i am single work three jobs and it is hard for me to make it. That money is coming out of my check high taxes and lower wages. Stop laying down and haveing all of those kids that you cant afford. Stop depending on the government to take care of you, your boyfriends and the kids. Get a job. I am so sick of reading about how hard you guys have it, the working class people have it hard also but noon gives a damn.

Welfare accounts for 1% of the US national budget. ONE PERCENT.

It appears that the consensus in this forum is to reduce food stamp dependence.
The first step would be for the consensus - yes, you the voter - to quit voting for Democrats so government will quit dipping into our paychecks. It's the political party that controls our money, not the person. I can't wait to say, "I told you so." |
