Measure B isn't a sanctimonious condemnation of marijuana, it's step one toward putting a leash on a bunch of greedy child poisoning, lying, drug dealing low life.

In conjunction its Investigation and Prosecution effort in Mendocino, the IRS is offering rewards to informants on those marijuana cultivators evading taxes in violation of the Money Laundering Control Act of 1986 and section 6050 of the Internal Revenue Code. Anonymous tips can be submitted to the IRS High Intensity Money Laundering and Related Financial Crime (HIFCA)Task Force at www.irs.gov/compliance/enforcement .

How to claim a reward:

IRS Publication 733 details the regulations for claiming a reward. You must complete IRS Form 211. Your information can be delivered personally to any IRS office, or you can write to:

Head of the Criminal Investigation Division
Internal Revenue Service
Washington, DC 20224

If a recovery is made as a direct result of information you provided, you may qualify for a reward of 15% of the amount recovered including taxes, fines and penalties, but not interest -- with a maximum payment of $2 million.

If your information was valuable, although not specific, in determining liability, you may be rewarded with as much as 10% of the amount recovered, again with a $2 million cap.

If your information was the originating cause of the investigation, but had no direct relationship to the determination of tax liability, the reward is 1% of the amount recovered, again with that $2 million limit.

Using an assumed name
If you're not claiming a reward for the information, you can use an assumed name. But if you want to claim a reward, you must use your own name. The IRS is legally prohibited from disclosing the identity of an informer to unauthorized persons.

In 2003, the IRS paid out $4 million to informants who helped the IRS pursue 190 cases, which together recouped more than $61 million in taxes owed. IRS statistics show that the agency has paid an average of 2.74% of recovered taxes as rewards to informants since 1967.

The IRS sounded off to a friend of mine recently who tried to report a neighbor. They told them if their wasn't a storefont involved they weren't interested. They simply don't have the manpower.

Call them Tax Day Incentive...they will tell you the same thing Eliot Ness is not on his way to Mendocino County.

Yes on Measure B. Even those of us who support medical marijuana rights know that the current state of affairs is ridiculous. People growing 150 plants or more in neighborhoods, with no other visible means of support are not "compassionate caregivers". They are manipulating the system to avoid real work, yes real work. We all know that 99.9% of their product goes to non patients, for the highest price they can get.

6 plants is enough for any patient. How much can a person use? All day every day, 6 plants is enough.

How do you know what 6 plants can produce? were these plants indoor or outdoor? were there any problems with humidity, mold, pests, deer, rabbits, etc? What is the quality of medicine produced? Is the patient smoking, vaporizing, making edibles, or tinctures? Have you even considered any of these questions before coming to your conclusion that 6 plants is more than enough?
Some patients may need more medicine on certain days depending on their condition.

In taking the number of pot plants from 25 down to 6, Measure B would decrease the amount of pot and hopefully the problems we have from pot, by approximately 75%.

Even if Measure B only ends up reducing the quantity of pot and our pot problems by 10% I think it's worth voting for.

It would set a precedent that states to the drug dealers that they are getting out of hand and that the non drug dealers in the area think that drug free schools and safe streets are more important than the alleged rights of drug dealers.

DEA yield studies in 1992 concluded that a marijuana plant will yield 1/2 ounce per square foot. NIDA study shows that a marijuana plant will yield 3/4 ounce per square foot.

This was the reason that Sheriff Craver and DA Vromen used the 100 square feet plant canopy guideline. 25 plants indoor will produce SIGNIFICANTLY LESS than 25 plants outdoor. Simply having 25 plants is not a criminal enterprise. Just stating 6 plants is not based on a scientific formula. the DEA and NIDA studies show otherwise. Shouldn't we base our county guidelines on science and not perceived ideas?

"Checker" has you in the "No on B" trap.

The Medical MJ argument against B is moot, because Cal. H&S 11362.77, which sets the State limits and would be adopted through passage of Measure B, allows legitimate patients to have more than the 6 limit with a doctor’s recommendation.

The real Measures G/B issue is to reprioritize enforcement and prosecution of violations of existing marijuana laws.

Don’t let them fool you, use of the medical marijuana limitation argument to attempt to defeat Measure B is a disingenuous, uncompassionate attempt to distract from the real issues.

No, adding 2 issues to 1 measure ballot is misleading to the people. Measure G allows LEO's to go after criminal grows. With measure G, anyone growing MORE than 25 plants is subject to prosecution. If you repeal measure g, anyone growing more than 6 plants is subject to prosecution. If you felt so strongly, why didn't anyone speak up last summer when the BOS voted to adopt the 25 plant per patient guideline?

Actually, Measure G addressed “Personal Use”, not just Medical Marijuana. Repealing Measure G and instituting the state limits merely means people in possession of MJ without an appropriate recommendation are violating the law. Sounds pretty reasonable.

If you don’t like the law, change it, don’t just violate it.

No prohibition law of any sort, in any civilization, at any point in the entirety of human existence has ever worked.

What makes you think Measure B will?

In reality it will probably do exactly what alcohol prohibition did in the 1920's. It will create more violent crime, empower the black market and organized criminal elements, criminalize other-wise law abiding citizens, and waste county resources and money.

Anyone who has been following these comment pages has heard opinions about pot and kids ranging from those of extreme concern to the opinion that we should get the kids smoking pot as soon as possible. The following is a list of websites that all express the opinion that it is wrong and in many ways destructive for young kids to smoke pot.
I know this posting is going to be followed by a lot of jeers and counter opinions. It's important to keep in mind that all the following sources of info 1, aren't making any money from their opinions and 2, aren't trying to justify their own drug consumption.
If you’re a concerned parent you might find these websites very informative.
