There should be somebody monitoring those hallways and bathrooms. When my boys went to Blairsville my youngest was bullied, and though I let him "tough it out" for the better of all involved, knowing attn. would exacerbate the issue,he never suffered a concussion,or I'm certain I would have spoken up.
It seems to me the kids of this generation have a lot more open hostility and anger issues going on,and I question what our generation did so wrong.I know just speaking for myself and some close friends that it seemed we could not allow our kids to go without anything.I wonder if that privileged mentality has them feeling that they can act on anything, because they certainly got almost everything they ever wanted.Whenever we moved out of state there was a cop who monitored the hallway here and no bullying. My son did well, had friends, and made the honor roll.Shame it took a gun carrying cop in the hallway to keep the kids in line.:/

Our schools here where I live do in fact have a cop at each school called "Liasion Officers" But that doesnt seem to matter. The problem at schools now days is that these liasion cops and these teachers act more like these kids "friends" then they do the authority type figure that they should keep it at. And let me tell you, I have 4 strait years of incidents I could talk to U about where my son was bullied and nothing was ever done. At one time, because I do in fact confront and stand up for my kids and I DON'T back down which the school doesn't like would get a letter every day even on Saturdays for like 2 months strait where my son was getting an hour of in school detention everyday for one thing or another they said he was doing after I went in there and wouldn't back down. So I came to see where the REAL BULLYING starts and that's with these teachers and liaison officers. I suppose they thought that it would stop me from coming to the school and standing up for my child. Unfortunately it only pissed me off more and they would see me twice as much as before coming in to make them explain why these things would happen when I would confront the issue. Then my son was left feeling he had no choice but to let others bully him because going to the principal to tell or telling me and me going to the school would do nothing but add the adults bullying him and also the kids. You know what I am saying? Its a vicious cycle that will NEVER end but only increase. Kinda puts a bend in the "parent involvement is so important" ideas.

I know this is a little after the fact, however my daughter now attends Blairsville High school and the bullying has never gotten any better. Last year I had to file a police report against a teacher who finally was fired, but not for what he did to my daughter, for that she was suspended. This year she is constantly bullied, when I go to the school as I also stand up for my child! The first thing that superintendent had the nerve to say to me was "what did she do to instigate the bullying"..excuse me? since when does a child ask to be bullied?? I now have my house up for sale, I cannot get my daughter out of here quick enough!!! And it has taken me 2 years to realize that no one really cares what goes on at these schools until after a child has become a statistic...Nothing they do will stop my involvement either.
