59% support allowing same-sex couples to marry.

10 years ago the same polling organization found 59% opposed.

Amazing, simply amazing.

Yes it is amazing how stupid and easily fooled Americans are. However I don't believe this BS for one minute.

There's NO way 59% of Americans feel that homosexuals should be allowed to adopt kids and NO way 59% of Americans feel that homosexuals make good parents. I still have a little more faith in the American people than that.

Gay marriage is one thing. If two men want to live together and pretend they're a husband and wife that's their own business. But when you bring innocent children into this sick lifestyle that is nothing but child abuse.

And that means liberal states such as Oregon will favor equality by huge margins. Even the conservative states might not even be able to pass an amendment now.

The stats on discrimination are great. If Oregon anti-gays do get their initiative on the ballot, they may be handed their most embarrassing defeat yet. Furthermore, support for their religious supremacy is so low that they'll have to root out about a quarter to a third of the potential "yes" votes and make them sign petitions. All the sudden, that 8% of the electorate looks a lot more difficult. They'll have to do some pretty clever manipulation to find signatures.

If it had been the other way around you'd believe it all right .. But it isn't .

I wonder if a great number of Americans have read their Constitution .. Or maybe they can't read ? It's the only answer to so much stupidity .

I can guarantee you that about as many Americans have read the Constitution as have read the Bible. And they are equally sure they know exactly what it means.

Child abuse? How are the children harmed?

Scientific studies show that children raised by a set of gay parents do equally as well as children raised by a set of straight parents.

You're right, according to the poll it's actually 61% of Americans who support allowing gays & lesbians to adopt, and 78% of Americans who think gays & lesbians make as good of parents as straight people.

The 59% is just the number of Americans who support allowing same-sex couples to marry.

And 50% of Americans believe the US Constitution guarantees the right to marry for same-sex couples.

Of course you fall into the category of the 19% of Americans who think the polls are wrong. You probably thought the polls were wrong and Romney was going to win the election in 2012.

Actually we're husband & husband- no wife. Just as a married lesbian couple is wife & wife- no husband.

If you were really worried about child abuse, you'd oppose all those heteros getting pregnant and abandoning their kids. Where do you think all the children up for adoption come from?

Please come into the 21century and stop having a bitter soul. God would not like it. And please tell all just how you became such an expert on your one side view? And I am truly sorry that you were abused as a adult?

Wow. Look, everyone, and read Lincoln/Campy/Whoever's post again.

"Gay marriage is one thing." Can you believe he actually said that? His begrudging acceptance of same sex marriage shows that even he's (unconsciously) evolving on this issue.

Good for you, Linc. I knew if you kept hanging around, we'd have a positive influence on you. Another year or so and we may have you deprogrammed completely.

And you'll go to your grave in disbelief. Happy travels.

The glbt parenting, adopting and fostering thing is old news. The fundies didn't get quite so mobilized about that issue - probably due to the sheer numbers of unwanted children in the country.

Considering the quality of the people you must know, it's hardly surprising that they would all hate gay people.

By the same token, none of the people I know think very highly of trash like you, so there you go. No harm, no foul.
