If the Feds don't allow anyone in Nova Scotia to work for family members, pay into EI and not be able to put in a claim for EI benefits, the rate of claims will continue to drop. There are many family owned and operated businesses in Nova Scotia. Many people who work for those businesses are related one way or another. So, if it is illegal for family to work for family and draw EI benefits, the workers might as well just set up their own system and tell the government to go pound sand. If working for relatives don't pay into the EI system. Employer or employee. If it is illegal to receive EI benefits if one has worked for a relative, then they shouldn't have to pay into the program either. Will the CPP work the same way when retirement time comes?
