<quoted text>It's fairly simple, old dog. You don't have to like gay marriage. You just have to acknowledge that it's a question of equal rights. It's also helpful to recognize that gay marriage poses no threat to the sanctity of straight marriage. My wife and I are as married as ever, and we wish others well in pursuing their own road to happiness.
Insightful answer, you hit on my main concern. I know, it's very selfish, but over the years, my biggest argument against gay marriage was that it would take away from my marriage- that I have worked hard at for decades. You are right, it will not threaten or cheapen my marriage. My other argument was always the 'slippery slope' argument, what next, multiple partners, animals, inanimate objects? lol I could marry 5 women and get health insurance for all of them through work, and take 5 deductions at tax time.
By 'complicated', I meant that someone could be born into a man's body and be a woman that likes other women- would that be a homosexual? Complicated like that, it's not just a man that likes men or a woman that likes females.

I don't understand letting the whole world know. Think would have been better kept private.
The video that came with this thread didn't work for me, so went and found one that did:

What an interesting story! Now Oklahoma won't be know for tornados anymore......

I agree with DC on this one.....they should have kept it quite. I think they would have a much happier life that way.

Even though I don't agree with the sex change thing and people saying they were born one way but should be the other.

I would imagine, since they met in a support group
for other young ppl in the same situation, that they
wanted to share their story in order to (maybe) help
someone else in the same situation.

I don't have a problem with homosexuality or gay
marriage. Why shouldn't everyone have a right to love
anyone they choose? Why shouldn't they be able to share
their lives if they want?

It warms my heart to be around my kids and to see their
attitudes toward these subjects. They are so accepting of
other ppl. No matter who they are, who they love, what
they look like. It gives me a bit of hope that Maybe humanity
has a chance. That the younger generation GETS what we
should have grasped a long time ago.

Agreed, Arctic.

I raised my children with an open mind. Is so many humans on the planet. To each their own.

I just think these two young adults would be better off having kept this to themselves. Sometimes 15 minutes in the spot light can burn like hell for one's whole life.

Even if folk have an open mind, is one at a time. Not every one has an open mind. Hell anymore few have a mind at all.

Did you watch the video? They really look their sex change rather than their birth sex.

I am bit lost on the lower parts. Seems they are both functioning as females at the moment. Confusing.

But they are happy. And it worked for them. I could walk by them and know them not. But others will.

In my line of life, I've met and seen all kinds of humans. This is not new, just more out in the open.

Mustn't deceive your little daughter. Think about that the next time you tell her she's perfect.

The best answer I can offer is that it's none of our business, and that everyone should have a chance to pursue happiness.

Placental abruption (also known as abruptio placentae) is a complication of pregnancy, wherein the placental lining has separated from the uterus of the mother.

Truly sorry. But I wasn't addressing you specifically. I was talking to anyone with a similar view.
I think kids should be well prepared for the real world. It can get pretty weird sometimes, and dealing with it requires a thick skin.

Exactly! There are untold thousands of kids out there like this and those children need to know that there IS hope for them too.

You are way too good for this room. I hope some day you realize that.

Well said. But again, I don't consider it a moral or immoral issue. In my view, if two adult people love each other, and want to sanctify their bond legally, that's about as moral as things get.
