Who knows how fairly to compare Bon Secours with Chesapeake with Riverside with Sentara, with regard to Charity-Disparity?

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1229574865515... is the article in the Wall Street Journal. Perhaps its editors can help compare these hospitals as a model for the rest of the nation to follow. No one size fits all. Americans like choice, not monopoly, right? Perhaps other cities have similar problems. We could ask Richmond or Raleigh how they use their medical money in this time of national shortage.

How do we get a copy of each year's IRS Form 990? Will WTKR publish these tax-forms each year for us to follow? Every penny counts,$6,900,000 are a lot of pennies, and the Republic is out of money such that the Federal Reserve is priting it each month by purchasing bonds. How can we abide paying even Mr. Bernd so much of our tax-money (via Medicare, etc.) when unemployed people need care, particularly preventive care?

I went to Sentara and they were very nice and helpful to me, it was a simple problem but the doctor did a scan that was not needed and I am charged over five hundred dollars, at first I thought he did this for extra income for his office in another area and not exactly understandable about why he did it but I did not need it unfortunately I did not ask questions and which I thought will be included in my bill and I was not even put in a room but on a stretcher next to the nurses station looking at everyone passing by but yet I have to pay that bill

Pinch Nerve is what I had I can only lift five pounds, I discuss rather than working my full eight and half hours I took a long cut to four and half hours, my left leg was still week at that time but nor I am a lot better but from what I heard it takes about one year to be 100% healthy I dont have any type of insurance because my employer does not permit it unless I am slaried, for heaven sake it is comming out of my paycheck.
I was also stuck with a lowered paycheck it was lowered from one amount to another I cannot keep up with some of my bills so I have asked for an increased in my hours to two and half hours more but I am refused just trying so hard to get back to my routine hours of eight and half

Meicare hospitals are supposed to be tax-exempt for a reason: What is that reason if not to treat everyone? Why spend more than $400,000 to the chief administrator when we can spend the rest of his $6,900,000 salary treating patients? The same logic holds for the other institutions cited.

Google Senator Grassley and charity hospitals.

What are the administrators at Riverside, Bon Secours, Riverside, the Navy hospital, and Chesapeake paid, compared to ...

the tax-exemption each not-for-profit hospital gets to treat people with little money?

For example, is it true that David Bernd was paid $3,500,000 in 2008 and $6,900,000 in 2011? If so, how much more medical care could those extra tax dollars have bought?

Should a tax-exempt organization spend money on advertising? On public relations? If you have a choice of which hospital to use, how will you decide?

Was Mr. Bernd paid $6,900,000 in 2011 to run a non-profit chain of Medicare hospitals? How much care could that little sum have bought for some poor black patients here in Virginia's Hampton Roads? The word is disparity. Isn't this exactly what Medicare and President Obama do not have in mind?

Dear Topix,

Will you write a follow-up on hospitals in this city? Other cities?

How much salary is ethical for nonprofit Medicare-supported hospital-administrators to spend on advertising? On his administrative salary?

Are woman administrators more ethical: http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB122957486551517... ?

Who continues your fine work here since you moved upstate? Have officials in other states followed your lead? What happened to Alicia Epps after your article was published in 2010? Has this hospital changed? If not, why not?

Have you informed Senator Charles Grassley (R., Iowa) of this
case? He is concerned about "nonprofit-hospital" profit in all states, as reported on NPR.
