If they think about it hard enough even the most elitist of starving Boroians might find an excuse to cross "to the other side of the tracks". Franklin truly has one helluva nice library. For those without enough clothes and blankets, Franklin's library is spacious & very warm. You know you're throwing money down the loo if you're giving Rumpke or WM those empty Guinness cans. Buy a can-crusher. Mindlin in Franklin pays CASH for cans.<quoted text>
Since "designer charity" is using the taxpayers money to provide space in JW, the BOE should reconsider the rationale that is being used by those who insist that JW is self supporting. First, I don't believe the church is paying enough to cover upkeep, heat, air conditioning in summer, security of building, cost of janitors, insurance, regular maintenance, snow removal, grass mowing and all other expense items in keeping a building of that size open and running.
Second, duplication of efforts for a food pantry system that is already operating well in the county is a waste of time and money. If you need help, people and organizations are there to help. But there is no need to duplicate systems already in place so that the "poor Springborians who have lost their jobs, through no fault of their own, and live in ritzy subdivisions, but can't afford food" don't have to demean themselves by driving to Franklin.
Has anyone considered the tax consequences of the school running a "business" by making money renting a building that is not in service as a school.
Starving Boroians, just think of the gasoline that can be saved! All of this can be accomplished in one trip in one day while pillaging Franklin's Food Bank!
