so just MONEY, right?
with all the violins playing on this, it comes down to just a denial of tax savings...
over a lifetime, the mortgage interest deduction gets you more...where the equality issue there?
So if it's "just money" and it clearly doesn't matter, heterosexuals should have no problem with giving up those monetary benefits, right?

Go ahead then and get that fixed in the laws. Remove all the preferential monetary benefits that are currently granted to heterosexual couples.

I'll wait until you get back to me on how that went over for you. But I won't be holding my breath.

For the same reason Bill Clinton invoked a marriage tax 'penalty' during his whitewater bj tenure. Was that fair?
If you can't trust your spouse?

Do married couples need to pay for such things? Are you suggesting all married couples should have to? Are you doing to chip in for the legal fund?
You have NO idea what you are talking about. But, then, that's true of the entire anti-marriage crowd. It all seems so simple to you, since you have no real vested interest in any of it.
He's still pissed because Vermont ignored him. Now watch him deflect that into something about New Jersey. He's a neurotic mess.

actually, you are blinded by your sense of entitlement...that's the truth.

no married couples don't have to, that's why we let some people marry and not others...you guys didn't make the invite list...

and since your "marriage equality" is really just about money and you can protect yourself other ways, your side's violin music is hyperbole at its best...

YOUR state has no rights, and mine does...why would you think that matters more to me and less to you?

In REALITY I am married in my state and you cannot in yours and you think its a dig on me...

Francisco has a vested interest all right: He's a lawyer. The more papers gay couples need to file to protect themselves, the more money he can make out of it. The more contested wills, the more estates he can plunder through endless court battles.
this is all true.

BUT, as I have said before, no better divorce than two women scorned.

I have not yet helped two lesbians divorce yet, but my colleagues believe it to be highly lucrative when both parties are fine with the lawyer getting it so that the other one doesn't...

and the custody battles...ho boy...

I've been pointing this out the hate-mongering idiots for years now. All they have to do is give up all the financial perks and legal protections of civil marriage and there won't be any reason for gay people to want civil marriage equality. At that point, religious marriage alone will suffice for everyone and we've all already got that!

They often leave skid marks as they run screaming from the room.

Did I say money? No, I did not. I said, "...financial perks and legal protections of civil marriage..."

How did you get from that that I was only talking about money?

And why would you think it's okay for one group to have the perks and protections and another group be denied the same thing?

So, while we're busy making fun of stereotypes, keep in mind that lesbians have fewer assets to fight over. What do you need with a used cathode-ray television?

Um, perhaps you failed to notice, but invites were sent from your jurisdiction in 2009.... almost four years ago. Have you been skipping your continuing education requirements?

He lives in Vermont. Gay marriage has been legal there for four years. No wonder he has no clients.

"we as a society" in Vermont means gay couples, too. Evidently you are outside of society. With your attitude, I can certainly understand why.

Yes. I can get married in your State. Just the thought of THAT makes you crazy. So crazy, that you ignore that gay marriage has been legal in your State for almost four years, yet you insist gay couples should get CUs. No wonder you don't have any clients. One conversation with you and it's obvious you aren't engaged with reality.
