He's a registered sex offender. So how did he pass the background check at a Walmart in Westminster? Wow! You know, pretty much if you're a convicted and registered sex offender, your life is basically done. Everywhere you go you must register with the local cops, anyone can access that information, all your neighbors will quickly learn of your past, you'll be ostracized, cast out, no one will hire you or help you. You might as well do yourself, eat a bullet. What else is there?
Oooo, from the way I was judged, it looks like I may have "offended" someone.

Walmart isn't a day care center or a school. It is a very crowded store. There are camaras everywhere. What do you think a cashier can get away with at Walmart? I think this would be a pretty low risk environment for this guy to earn his living.

How is he going to pay rent and eat if he can't work? Do you really think the taxpayers should be required to support him?

Just fyi. Not all sex offenders are really sex offenders. Some of them are just stupid.
This is very true and a good point to make. However, it is not relevant to this story as the offender was 11 yoa and the the victim 4 yoa with significant bodily injury (according to the story).

While it may not be the the most popular opinion amongst the vampires trolling this thread getting their sick satisfaction from imagining the lifelong punishment that this boy is receiving, there is one logical truth to this situation that must be defended:

(And when I say defended, I mean that anyone who is reading this with even a shred of compassion needs to post a comment to help tame the bloodthirsty savages who are so eager to rip this kid to shreds)

This kid was 11 years old when whatever it was that happened...happened. The girl was 4. While it is pretty much impossible to imagine taking an 11 year old and a 4 year old, put them in the same room, and come up with something sexual, there is one fact that remains. This kid was 11 years old when it happened. YOU DO NOT TAKE AN 11 YEAR OLD AND WRECK HIS LIFE...OVER ANYTHING. PERIOD. You teach them, because at 11 years old, a person is very much still a little child. It takes a very special kind of person (many here in this comments section) to be advocating punishment for this young man who is apparently just trying to work at Walmart. 11 YEARS OLD. The things you do when you're 11 years old just shouldn't come back to haunt you for the rest of your life. Having a system where one act (no matter what it is) committed at the age of 11 can define the rest of a person's life is terrifyingly disturbing. Yet, there are so many on here who seem do derive a sense of sick satisfaction from seeing this person suffer. Makes me wonder who the real "sicko's" are.

the question then i pose to YOU john, is if it was YOUR 4 yeaer old daughter, would you still feel the same? and if the boy and his brother that both molested that little girl were step siblings to your daughter, would you THEN still feel the same as you do?

I don't know about you but when my kid was 4 years old and I took him to the store he was in a cart and I was watching him. Even when he was to old for the cart he was NEVER out of my sight at the store or any other public place I took him too. While Walmart can background check their employees they cannot background check their customers. Any responsible parent will keep an eye on their kid and not depend on Walmart to watch out for them.

This guy has served his sentence. Done his rehab. Registered properly and not gotten in any more trouble. He has to work somewhere and I think Walmart, as public as it is and being equipped with camaras is an ideal place for him.

Fox your the evil that will bring this world to an end. You bring news about a child who is trying to fix his life to get more ratings. You all are bottom feeders and the scum that permeates my toilet bowl after not being washed for a week.
This is the reason you moronic public get pulled around by your noses by the media because they know youre retarded enough to not ask questions. You make me ashamed to be even considered in the same race as you all.

What better place for a RSO to work? Walmart employees really have little to no customer interaction and there are camaras everywhere. Would you rather them be cleaning your hotel room or being a janitor at the local rec centr? These guys (and I mean all one time only offenders) need to work somewhere. Any I see lots of posts upset with Walmart, but didnt they say the juvinal records were sealed? How would they have known? I would not expect any company to look up local offender sites to check on an employee.

I am now boycotting KDVR. Even with the story, there was no need to go to his home to harass/interview him. Shame on that reporter...How funny would it have been had he greeted her with a shotgun? Now you have a story.

Perhaps, the only solution would be to financially support and provide housing to all the 716,000+ citizens marked as sex offenders and of course their families, along with medical benefits and retirement plans, for life!
I'm sure the Legislators inventing these 'MURDER' Laws would be willing to give up their reduce their pay checks and those in society would agree to pay a lot more taxes to support their cause and fellow Americans in need!
Maybe, John Walsh will donate back to America, the millions he made off the tax payers while exploiting his son's Adam's 'MURDER' for over 27 years? And, don't forget OPRAH, Bill O'Rielly and the media Network's ; if they can afford to cause Sex Offender hysteria and profit, they can support these people that are unable to support themselves because of their action for great ratings!

What a terrible piece of journalism. A kid trying to do the right thing by working and paying his taxes is fired because the sensationalists find it's wrong for him to be working there. When did you become the judge? You show up at the poor kids house and ask him "Do you think he should be working at walmart"? Who are you? Are you going to help him find a job now? Oh wait We'll just pay his unemployment now!

I would think that a crowded Walmart with MANY people around would be the least likely place to re-offend.

Good luck kid, keep you chin up.

@Schmucks

Who is the Schmuck? The kid was 11-YEARS-OLD when he was "convicted." Why he was still required to register as a sex offender is bewildering. The Former prosecutor/juvenile defense attorney states the "law believes in second chances" yet, the kid is not getting one. IMHO, if the kid was fired, I'd suggest he get an attorney and sue Wal-Mart.

@Kat

Do you have any evidence that he offended again? Furthermore, you should read "Recidivism of Sex Offenders Released from Prison in 1994" that proves just how much of an ass you are. You can download the report here - bjs.ojp.usdoj.gov/content/pub/pdf/rsorp94.pdf

I get the feeling you hold yourself in High regard. Its apparent that you think your smarter than most here. Do me a favor, look in your crystal ball and tell me if you see your girls being charged with Child Porn when they sext nudies of themselves to the boys at school. Or how about Statutory rape when one of them has sex with a boyfriend who is not of legal age of consent. How you you feel if your child was on a sex offender registry? Reading your comments here makes me think you would be the one to rat your kids out and get them fired.

Everyone deserves a second chance.

My goodness, the kid was 11 when it happened. These laws are so punitive that it will hurt anyone regardless of the circumstance. And the mother, simply vindictive. When will the people of this country wake up and see that the Constitution is not followed by any branch of government anymore.
