your goal as a parent should be to train your child to be more independent each year so that by the time they are 21 yrs old they should be able to take care of them selves. It is true that the economy is slow at best and good paying jobs ( over $15.00 per hr) are far and few between, but some parents allow their kids to live at home contribute $0.00 to the house hold and do 0.00 work around the house. That is not helping them it is enabling them to be lazy and dependent on you.

becomes a parent: "This is going to hurt me more than it will hurt you." No parent likes the duty of causing a child to experience discomfort as a result of discipline. But every parent knows that life's most painful lessons are the longest remembered.

The Old Testament psalmist said that affliction is what taught him the necessity of obeying God's Word (Psalm 119:67, 71, 92). And Solomon, in his proverbs, revealed a truth that would cause God's people to look at discipline in a whole new light: "For whom the LORD loves He corrects" (Proverbs 3:11-12). That is, correction and discipline are evidences of God's love! How contrary to the modern philosophy that love means letting a child find his or her own way. The writer of Hebrews took Proverbs 3:12 to its logical conclusion: "But if you are without chastening [from God]... then you are illegitimate and not sons" (Hebrews 12:8).

Better for a Christian to be reproved by God, or a child by his or her parents, than to willfully follow their own path and be uncorrected and unloved.

Those that would enjoy the dignities and privileges of Christ's family must submit to the discipline of it.

im glad this thread was started, there are so many deadbeat parents out there its not even funny, these days kids are not made to work outside the home, do chores, learn respect or anything. I know a little boy right now that's 4 years old and goes poop outside, he pees outside as well, and they live in town at that. well guess what, they took him for evaluation and the paperwork on him was sent to little rock and they will find out next week if he gets to get a check going. this is happening way to much, and here our parents and grandparents have worked all their lives and cant get no help at all

Here's an idea. Why don't you just concentrate on your own weaknesses and foibles and quit trying to tell others how to live. That'd be a start!

The problem with your attitude and your kids, Jim, is that you're raising them to be a problem and an expense to all us good parents, what with having to provide them with welfare and crazy checks like yours, and then there's the expense of prosecuting them and housing them in prisons, with the favored alternative being the trouble and expense of giving them the needle and fixing that particular problem once and for all.

Thanks to that black POS in the white house kids can't make a living on their own! They have to get all the food stamps and welfare available and still need help from parents! Can't wait for 2016 to get here!

Those first 4 responses seem to be pretty similar in punctuation and lack of caps.

The problem with your attitude and your idiocy, taxpayer, is that you speak about me as though you know me and my kids. As a typical busy body, you think you, taxpayer, have the right and even responsibility to tell me how to raise my kids. You're the kind who thinks the NSA is just fine spying on everyone. Why? Cuz you think well it's all for the greater good. People like you seem to think I need to justify my way of parenting and actions because well, you pay taxes, by God you deserve to see what's going on right? Yeah. Sure. Go on back to your Homeowner's Association, or whatever the tyrant's orgs are called in the UK and harass someone for the fun of it, eh!

Pretty good guess on the age! I'm impressed. Actually 55. But the rest... Well you couldn't be more wrong. I wouldn't expect any better from your kind though. Crawl back in your hole and when your self righteous superiority feels the need to surface again, you can push back the rock.
