I believe that cops are here to their job, however this is a prime example of how these police officers can go on a power trip. "Dude" was not serving and protecting. I believe he was picking on a 14 year old. Ive been to Baltimore and maybe the reason the city has so many problems is because they have their police force focusing their energy on stopping kid from enjoying there day, instead of really trying to serve and protect. I hope that this 3 min. video can be a learning tool in making sure cops are doing their job. Still would like to thank all the good cops out there. We all know there are more good ones than bad ones. Fred 23yo chi

What a whining little creepy kid. I saw the Mom on TV and now know why such a little spawn yelled for his mommy. What a country when we suspend police officers for doing what his botox bimbo mother failed to do years ago!

Teenage Boy Addressed Cop As 'Dude'. No, It's not that simple.
This pathetic little creep is at fault, not the officer. The brat was extremely disrespectful. Cops, I put you on a pedestal, but I wonder why anyone would want to be one. You are underpaid and you expected to take crap like this. I say quit and then let society figure out what to do when these same self-centered p***** rob their homes and/or murder their loved ones. Wouldn't it be a shame when no one showed up after they dialed 911.

In the town of Baltimore, things can easily get like things were in California during the Rodney King riots of 1992. I was surprised that there were no riots in D.C. during the time when the cop overacted in the bike theft incident at an apartment complex. I guess that Cathy Lanier is getting better at her job than I originally thought she would. I was quite appalled at her progress.

With the crime rate out of control during that time in Baltimore, the cop deserves a standing ovation for his good work. He has more poise and integrity than most cops of his caliper. He should get a gold metal of honor for doing his job well.

Hey Jim,
I bet that in California right now, things are quite nice. Here in the Metropolitan D.C. area, the crime at anytime everywhere in the D.C. area is deplorable. Some security staff as well as some cops are getting their cars and motorbikes stolen and attacked with knives and bottles. Where you live is like the Garden Of Eden when you read in the papers of what is going on in this area. I would love to live in warm California.

This cop was way out of line. He should have used his scale of escalated force. That kid offered no threat to him and he had no reason to put him on the ground. This piece of garbage should be fired! Not suspended with pay... Thats a slap on the wrist! He is a professional and thats his job. If I did that when I went overseas to fight for my country I would be in serious trouble and you can believe the 1st thing that would go would be my money. This "dude" has serious anger issues and should never use his job title as a reason to push people around. If I called someone dude in the military I would probably be told to shape up but not get screamed at and pushed to the ground! I don't know whats currently going on with this piece of garbage but im going to be calling the Baltimore PD and I suggest everyone else and make complaints against him. The more the better. This guy does not deserve to be a police officer. At least currently. He is held to extremely higher standards than that he should have known better. Plus from what I know about the PD he had to be a shit bag if he was on harbor patrol anyways. I am gonna keep calling the Baltimore PD till I get a news response!

That's it????? He's suspended with pay? That's a punishment?

He ought to be fired. And fast. This big fat bastard assaulted a 14 year old kid because he didn't like the way he talked to him? The enormous pig rushed up to a skinny kid, grabbed him in a headlock, and threw him to the ground, then slapped the kid back to the ground when he sat up, all because he is not fond of the term "dude"?

Where is that in the Constitution?

And I like how some news outlets are creatively interpreting what clearly occurs in the video. He "berated" the skater.... "confronts", "yelled at". Since when did these become euphemisms for physically assaulting some one?

You can be damned sure that if a civilian ran up to a cop, grabbed him in a headlock, and then threw him to the ground twice, that civilian would not be charged with "berating", "confronting", or "yelling at" a police officer. The charge would be assault. But first, you can be sure that the civilian would be brutalized.

I wish the police dept would let this cop ride up and down my street in Baltimore in his golf cart. Then he could beat up people breaking into houses and cars instead of wasting time roughing up kids in the inner harbor.

Him "doing what his botox bimbo mother failed to do years ago" is what was probably done to that cop years ago to make him such a rageaholic and a total disgrace to good police everywhere who know how to practice restraint and do the RIGHT thing. This guy assaulted a teenager for calling him "dude". The kid should have been more accurate and called him an asshole.

The kid was just having fun, not doing gang related activity. Respect is something you have to earn, not something that should be given just because you are called something like a policeman, a teacher or a parent. You can be a BAD cop, a BAD teacher or a BAD parent and not deserve one once of respect. An idiot like that cop shouldn't be allowed to wear a badge and he certainly shouldn't be allowed to have any position of authority. You, for instance, also deserve absolutely no respect for your totally misguided opinion.

This one deserved one more reply. You mentioned dialing 911 and I had to laugh. You dial 911 and the police will arrive just in time to write up the report over your dead body. Your an idiot if you believe the police can protect you. Even if you had a body guard standing next to you night and day it wouldn't guarantee your safety. Intelligent people learn how to arm and protect themselves. You go right on thinking the way you do and there will be fewer people like you around, thankfully.

All of you are retarded. If a cop came at my kid and pushed him to the ground with out provacation id rase livong hell.Yelling is onething but when he took the kids skate board and pushed him to the ground that is when he steped over the line. Also in the video he made personal verbal threats at the kid. So what if he is a "pathetic little creep" That bage the he wares requiers him to be a profesional even in the most trying of times thats what makes them a cop. Oh did you notice that he has a nother recorded epasode?

Yep, same ol sh__. The kid most certainly DID do something, and that was NOT obeying an officer. The punk was told repeatedly to stop calling the officer dude. He was told repeatedly to sit down. He disobeyed each time. He disobeyed by doing what he was doing where he was doing it.
Jimdude...you seem extremely invested in defending brat punk behavior. Got your number!
SHAME on anyone that does not expect a juvenile to honor an officer because he IS an officer. Oh, that's right. The punk was going to dis the officer expecting the officer to kiss his ass like apparently his parents do. IF he has parents, that is. The officer is a man. The punk will probably never be.
