Steve Shannon was a loving husband, father, brother and son. A man that will be missed terribly by his wife Heather and their children, he lived life to the fullest. My prayers to his family and most especially to his brother Stewart, who is grieving this loss so deeply. We are here for you Stu, we love you and you and your family are in are prayers.

Just an observation on bail requirements in Marin County, March, 2008.

Accused of killing one or possible two dogs:
"Corrasco, who is being held in at the county jail in lieu of $100,000 bail, was arraigned in Marin Superior Court on Friday on charges of animal cruelty, theft, theft of dogs and damaging a telephone line."

Accused of killing a motorcyclist and maiming another:
"The suspected driver, Mauro Fabrizio Iaconi of Bolinas, was scheduled to appear in court Thursday to learn whether he will face manslaughter and related charges. Iaconi, a 44-year-old carpenter, was arrested early Wednesday after a police search of more than six hours. He was booked into county jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run causing injury or death, with bail set at $50,000."

We are living in Perroy Switzerland and have read this article from abroad. We are overcome with sadness to hear of this tremendous loss to Heather and her girls and will be praying for them. Steve made such an impression on our family. He loved life and he shared his enthusiasm in a way which was contagious. I especially admired the way he openly loved Heather and gave his girls such generous affection and support in every thing they did. Steve Shannon will be remembered by us as an exceptional family man.

This is such a devastating tragedy for both families. The community's thoughts and prayers are with you. I also pray that the killer, Mr. Iaconi, is prosecuted, convicted and sentenced to the fullest extent of the law. I have to agree with the post by "Perry Mason"' of SF regarding the rather low bail. Perhaps it has since been increased. After all, Iaconi fled from the accident scene and left his victims to die so, to me, he is a definite flight risk. While it certainly won't ease the pain of the victims' families, bail should be set at million dollars, if possible, for this soecimen of stinking raw sewage. Better yet, Iaconi should just commit suicide and spare the victims' familes the added burden of a trial.
