Hello,
I am a new skater. I just skated around the Washingto Square Park, NYC today, for the first time. I donned my skates inside the park where the surface was rough so I had a difficult time getting to the street where the road was smooth.

I 've been watching people skate over rough patches on the road, or on tiled areas on the West Side Highway path, and I notice that they remain erect, but with the right foot slightly ahead of the left. Is the proper way for skating over rough patches?

Thanks,
Hyacinth
