I think WOW and YUP should get together and have a cup of coffee since your so close to each other.
How dare you bringing up being in the military gives you some God giving right to break the law, a true service person would be glad to have served our country.

Chris Cote, yes I agree with you, try riding on the property you own and stop destroying property that is own by others.
There is land that is specifically designed for off road vehicle use, so why can't you ride there?
The only true way to stop the illegal activity is to remove these individuals from their machines.

Getting back to dirt bikes, whats wrong with off road recreation. The only reason its termed illegal is because the bird & bunny people made it that way. The off roaders use the land many times over what the tip toes claim to do. If there were no motorized vehicles most of the trials that these people seldom hike on would disappear.
I remember breaking some good trails on my dirt bike and using them for years. It was very seldom to see a pair of shoe prints or horse prints on these trails. lets face it if the land is just to look at so the people will get a feel good lets just auction it off and build some affordable housing for our seniors.

The problem is Massachusetts is not a poor state
Environmentalist will never share nature. Because they don't have to.
In the northern states they open access to ATV's with open arms. They use registartion money to fund trail maintence and protect the environmnet.
N.H. also provides free safety training for kids.
In Mass, they take registration dollars and feed welfare folks ( Mass. General fund).
People have a passion to ride ATV's. You shut them
down and they tresspass. I don't agree with tresspassing.
Horse back riding and paved bikeways all happen on public land.
Everyone on both sides is guilty of promoting the illegal riding in this state.

Yes its all politics.
Or it could be that the snow pack between the snowmobile and trail protects the trail from getting torn up. Could also be the work the snowmobilers in town do to clear and protect the trails and keep each other in line.
Maybe the ATV owners could establish a similar self policing group.

Could you stop making so much sense, too many posters aren't capable of understanding it.

I'd rather the ATV riders ride on trails than the road! In most cases these ATV riders are a younger generation that has found a hobby, and responsability in riding these machines. keeps them out of trouble. These machines are not cheap either, and for the town to collect tax from a store that sells the machines in Lunenburg, then to say your going to crack down on the usage..sends a clear message to local buisness owners who earn a living selling them..in your town. What REALLY is the message here?

not to mention, the trails wouln'd be nicley groomed or even there for that matter if there were no one riding on them.

This was posted on another Forum.
You need to read it.

I don't know what the problem is here and all the psing and moaning about it.
You can end this real quick and make them pay for the damadges, all you gotta do is get a couple of cops and natural resorce officers up there for a few days, unannounced and put a quick end to the problem.
#1 Mass gen law cpt. 266,121a, Tresspasing with a Motor vehicle is a $250 fine, Stop Em, Book Em, Tow Em, belive me when you hit a few with $250 fines the word will get around fast to stay away, and charge the ones cutting the locks for damadge to town property they will get the message fast, it is a criminal act. Wake up people.
I don't get it, someone needs to do their job and stop whining about the damadge.
Copy of the law below direct from the Comm of Mass Gen. Laws.
Chapter 266: Section 121A. Trespasses involving motor vehicles and other powered devices
Section 121A. Whoever, without right, enters upon the private land of another, whether or not such land be posted against trespass, and in so entering makes use of or has in his immediate possession or control any vehicle, machine, or device which includes an internal combustion engine or other source of mechanical power, shall be punished by a fine of not more than two hundred and fifty dollars.
