Some wonder how ban on ATVs can be enforced - Sentinel & Enterprise

There are 44 comments on the Sentinel & Enterprise story from Aug 15, 2010, titled Some wonder how ban on ATVs can be enforced - Sentinel & Enterprise. In it, Sentinel & Enterprise reports that:

Sitting by the Crocker Pond beach area, Tom Torrans can hear the roar of engines trekking through the hiking trails at the rear of the 100-acre recreational area, but by the time he hikes out to the area the damage is done, with only the far-off whisper of engines.

Giving to charity doesn't give you some right to use someone elses private property for whatever you want. If someone suddenly built houses on a trail, guess what? The trail was on private property. Who are you to decide for the owner what they should or shouldn't allow?
Ramming a quad through a narrow hiking/biking trail (which in many cases someone went through a lot of effort to get approved and build) certainly does ruin it. Again, who are you to decide you have a right to change a trail into dirt road?

My husband, daughter, and I all ride quads. We own our own land, and that is the only place we ride. We keep up our own trails, and do not ruin other people's property. There are certainly many people who do not have any respect for other's property. (Mostly teens.) Then there are responsible people who would never dream of messing up another's property. Please don't stereotype responsible owners like my family and I. There are a few of us riders that follow the rules.

I can care less what quad riders do on their own property. I think most people don't have a problem with quad riders like "Not A Heathen". Of course if everyone was like them it wouldn't be a problem now would it? I think most negative views from people have experianced the impact firsthand. It's usually either the uneduacated or ungrateful trail user that ruins it for everyone else...add four wheels and a throttle hence the sterotype and law.
I actually feel bad for the responsible ones.

the guy talking about piano wire is an idiot. ya hurt people who enjoy the woods, that is real productive. ATV people do care, i clean up beer cans and party areas and carry out trash on my rides. Maybe a town club would work where people enjoy riding with friends and family.
