Supreme Court delivers blow to workers' rights

There are 150 comments on the Yahoo! story from May 21, 2018, titled Supreme Court delivers blow to workers' rights. In it, Yahoo! reports that:

The U.S. Supreme Court delivered a blow to the rights of workers on Monday by allowing companies to require them to sign away their ability to bring class-action claims against management, agreements already in place for about 25 million employees. The justices, in a 5-4 ruling with the court's conservatives in the majority, endorsed the legality of the growing practice by companies to compel workers to sign arbitration agreements waiving their right to bring class-action claims on various disputes, primarily over wages and hours.

"Do you believe in life after death?" the boss asked one of his employees. "Why yes." the employee replied. "Well that makes everything just fine." the boss went on, "because when you left early yesterday to go to your grandmothers funeral she stopped in to say hello."

The issue before the Supreme Court was to allow groups, instead of individuals to have rights. Groups have no rights where Labor is concerned. Maybe after the Democrats nominate Justices. Democrats hate the Constitution.

Ill Duce Trump's America, but it's also Reagan's and the Bushes. The Supreme Court is not best described as having a liberal and a conservative split, it is has been best described for several decades now as being pro corporate 90% of the time. (Despite the four dissents here; that is not typical of the Court on big business issues.)

The horrible right wing Supreme Court will take all workers rights away from them, we will be a country in prison. When we have no rights, will we want to work and be enslaved. As I have said, we are a very sad nation and it is mainly due to the corporations who own us.

The horrible right wing Supreme Court will take all employer rights away from them, we will be a country in prison. When employers have no rights, will we want to build and be creative. As I have said, we are a very sad nation and it is mainly due to the socialists who own us.

There is a new Country emerging, freer, more competitive, more productive, more workers, fewer on food stamps,, and welfare. It is wonderful to watch America become the country the Founders perceived.

Annie, you and Truth are the biggest lunatics on the board. Everything you say is the exact opposite to the truth. It would be laughable except Trump is frightening and evil to his core.

No such thing as evil. There is only action and reaction. Trump has taken positive actions to restore American pride. If that is evil, then I would like to have more please.

We’re heading back to the days of why unions were born in the first place. Sweat shops and all that comes with them.

Trump and his filthy rich golf pals will soon have American workers reduced to toiling for one dollar an hour and they won't even be able to afford the cheapest imported goods, and then he will boast about how he solved the trade deficit with China and immigration problems because Chinese goods will be too expensive and Mexicans will then turn up their noses at the idea of illegally entering a shihthole country like the US.

Except workers just got increases in their checks from our tax cut. Learn a skill, and get a job. I think we will soon see welfare reform too. Able bodied will have to work, or starve, and I don't care what they choose. Did you see where Sanders thinks everyone should get a check? Where does that dolt think the money to back the checks would come from? I swear Democrats make no sense.

Yes, middle-class Americans will get used to lower wages and a lower standard of living, and I'm sure Trump's rich golf buddies will spend their windfall tax handout wisely on imported luxury goods.

Ardy Baby, the Supreme Court won't do any such thing.

It's called divide and conquer, Trump is actually pretty good at it.

My state (Texas) is a right-to-work state, meaning that your company can fire you for any reason or they do not have to have a reason. In Texas if you are a "whistle blower" you cannot be fired.

Right wingers are always against working people, nothing new there. That's why only fools vote for Republicans.
