Too bad for Chcago's loss of Antonio Mora, he adds class to WBBM's news show. Rob Johnson will do well, though. Now if they could send Diane Burns packing to North Dakota, they would be on the right track.

local television news is utterly meaningless. teasers and banter and fake pity. weather that is wrong more than half the time. re-hashed sports. no business coverage. no understanding of international events. politics is a horse race. aaaannnd 22 minutes later, "that's our news for tonight. thanks for joining us. see you tomorrow."

but anyway, listen, if the guy can get some other station to pay him to read from a teleprompter, may god bless him. better to do a meaningless job in a city where you can then go to your oceanfront condo.

The best part of Mora's Chicago tenure was the ruckus caused by Mike North's declaration that Antonio didn't look Mexican enough and should wear a sombrero during the newscast.

Channel 2 needs to get rid of management instead of anchors. Since Don Craig and Walter Jacobson, the continual turnover has always worsened the broadcasts. I mostly quit "2" when they pushed Lester and Linda out and haven't tuned in at all after happening upon a broadcast with "Dr." Phil as part of the staff.

If CBS news would report news rather than fluff and really look at the weather instead of totally relying on radar, people might just listen. I don't listen to channel 2, I listen to the professionals at channel 5.

Go figure. Antonio Mora was a credible anchor and a likeable personality. But so was Lester Holt. It's not their fault the shallow corporate suits view "newscasts" as a revenue stream, and use them to plug other network programming and to bring us the latest Brittney or Paris episode.
There's plenty of important news, but you can't trust Channel 2 or 5 or 7 to cover it.

Absolutely! And his pronunciation of Latino names was disgusting. As though he was "educating" the rest of us. And then he brought on board the totally unintelligible RRRRRaphael RRRRRRomo.

Nothing against ANY ethnic anchors. However, journalistic standards should apply equally. DITCH the ethnic inflection. Used to be one couldn't Get a job on tv or radio without using a "broadcast quality" voice.

And lest anyone think I'm picking on Antonio Mora, WFMT should fire Kerry Frumpkin on the spot. What an AWFUL, NASAL tone! Ugh!

Antonio was actually really good when paired with Linda MacLennan. Once Hurricane Di swept the set with her poor pace and just plain bad delivery, I switched to 7.

I still think Ch. 2 has a great reporting staff, but Burns is just awful.

Channel 2 can be salvaged if they don't renew Diann's contract. If Mary Ann Childers was on the 10, I'd switch back. Antonio was just given a bad partner. It's a shame.

I will not miss him at all. He was boring on Good Morning America, got fired from that job so he ended up here at Channel 2. He was boring here, got demoted to 6 pm, and now he's gone.

I'd watch the hunky Rob Johnson over Antonio Bore-a any day, any time.
