Ledger wins posthumous Globe for `Dark Knight'

There are 64 comments on the The Associated Press story from Jan 11, 2009, titled Ledger wins posthumous Globe for `Dark Knight' . In it, The Associated Press reports that:

Heath Ledger has won the supporting-actor Golden Globe nearly a year after his death, earning the prize for his diabolical turn as the Joker in the Batman blockbuster 'The Dark Knight.'

The award has been accepted by the film's director, Christopher Nolan.

The Globe win boosts Ledger's prospects for the supporting-actor honor at the Academy Awards, whose nominations come out Jan. 22, the one-year anniversary of the actor's death from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

Only one actor has ever won a posthumous Oscar, best-actor recipient Peter Finch for 1976's 'Network.'

then that SOB, extended his middle finger right on TV.
the above people should not be invited in any formal gatherings anymore !!
Mickey Rourke should be happy to have work at all. He should be kissing the director's ass instead of kicking it.

Mention of "Network" and Peter Finch. He was fabulous and the movie is one of the greatest movies of all time, even though the third act was weak. William Holden was obviously cast with a nod toward NBC newscaster Chet Huntley. They are lookalikes. William Prince was obviously CBS big boss William Paley's lookalike.

Heath Ledger did not get this award b/c people felt sorry for him that he died accidently from taking medication for pneumonia which he caught in the UK, then pills to sleep b/c he wa sexhausted from filming and his heavy schedule plus dealing with the break up of his marraige and missing his child..........plus acting and rehearsing..........by the way it was accidental. We all have to deal with life and for some its just harder but he did not do it deliberatley...he loved his daughter .anyway as I was saying he got the award because he was goo, in fact his portrayal was phenominal and in fact not much of his character got larger parts in teh film, in fact too short, but Heath Ledger missed out on an award in my opinion for Brokeback Mountain in which he played a truley difficlut role of Ennis del mar. My point Yes Heath Ledger did deserve this for the JOKER, and sadly he was not here to recieve it. It was not honored to him out of pity but out of his talent ----a talent which was sadly cut short and had much more within this young man to Wow us evn more. Well done Heath just wish you were here to recieve it.
Too much time is spent on whining about this and that instead of saying good job. The young man is dead for gods sake.------Pretty good movie too, not the best batman but the Joker was intoxicating to watch.....!!!!
you need to be intoxicated to watch. perrylogan.org

That makeup job was awfully cheap looking. He wasted himself on this film. A shame. I respected all his other roles. I did not think this one was enough to get a globe however. Hollywood has officially no taste for how they stress out actors, slap makeup on them that scares kids rather than be interesting, then give out awards for no story line. I suppose in this case if he had not won an award before then this gets to be the same a charitable understandable award for all his previous roles.

Ledger was a very respectible man!! Loved his movies.. he could play as anybody.. in Brothers Grim he was passionate and loving, in Batman.. well....he was the Joker.. and that was just about the best acting ive ever seen.. it was spine chilling to think how much he resembled a joker.. the way he talked, moved, walked, his grin... and the whole over dose thing with the pillz some people say it was pheamonia((dont no how 2 spell it)) and some people say he did it to play the role better.. why guess we would never know.. a person with money can fix or do anything meaning he could get pillz or whatever he wanted easily... just takes one doctor to persue with money... and you have all the pillz you want in the world.. Either way im still going to miss the great movies he has made.. and i also think that he deserved this award.. and for people to go and say he only got it because he died of overdose after the movie.. thats bull crap.. obviuosly you have never seen his movies and if thats the case you have no right to say anything about him!!! my favorite movies made by him would be A KNIGHTS TALE, BROTHERS GRIM, AND BATMAN

I went to see The Dark Knight at the theater. Although, going to the theater these days really takes alot out of your pocket, this movie was totally worth it. Heath Ledger was brilliant.
I haven't seen Brokeback Mountain yet, but I want to. I have seen parts of it. He was a good actor. I have watched other movies of his and he really stepped it up in the Dark Knight. Hate that he didn't get to live to see what he accomplished.
