The fact that the NAACP was supporting a person of this character, only because he was black, shows what a racist ungodly group they were. Black, White, Pink, or Purple...He should have been hanged from the tallest tree in Holmes County and left there to rot!!!!

Second article on the 1958 Murders in Bonifay did not make the News Herald. Sure hoping for it next Sunday. Marlene Womack writes good stuff. Very interesting. Looking forward to the next article.

Don't know the address, but it was north of Bonifay.

Up dogwood lakes road about a mile outside of town. Not sure of the exact address either. There's a pond there beside where the house was. No house in that spot though.

Mrs. Carnley died in March of this year. She had apparently remarried and had some more children but is buried next to Ira Gene Carnley and Ernestine in Bonifay Cemetery. You can find her obituary, Sybil Ellen Sellers.
